Character Name & Journal: Jon Snow (northerndragon) Guild Affiliation: Likely to join the Alliance… but could remain Unaffiliated, particularly if it begins to seem like a good idea. The last time he honorably joined an honorable group for honor reasons, it turned out to be a penal colony and he eventually got murdered. Plot/CR Hooks:
Like a lot of other characters who have been posted so far, Jon is service-minded and largely lacks a sense of self-preservation. If it will keep others alive or help them accomplish altruistic goals, he’ll put himself on the front lines.
Jon is a CRAU from Meadowlark, which means that you’re getting the canon character with about 90% less “explain the contemporary world to him” than you would get if he were fresh from canon. However… he played in about four major events through the course of the game, and two of them were false realities. One was a Matrixy virtual reality simulation, and the other was a dreamlike AU. The result is that he may initially wonder if this is another AU or simulation, and he’ll be on the lookout for those happening in the future.
He should be an ordinary human with strong sword skills, but he’s bringing in some CRAU powers: super strength, and starter levels of telekinesis and pyrokinesis. Brooding is a power he’s bringing in from canon.
Jon is affable, but kind of a loner, and not actually easy to get to know in any deep way: he doesn’t really talk about his feelings past obvious surface level stuff. He is very ready to explain his family’s misfortunes and his sadness and anger about them. He’s less ready to get deep and real about his childhood unless you’ve leveled up your friendship, and might not even mention that he’s a king at home unless it seems relevant.
Character Motivations:
Jon would, of course, like to get home, where he faces a fight against a potential extinction event. He expects to lose it, but he doesn’t intend to go down easily; if there is a chance that he can pick up information or abilities that may help, he’s up for that.
Outside of canon business, he’s always interested in protecting family, friends, the weak, etc. Jon was raised as a bastard (a child born out of wedlock). It’s a stigmatized position in Westerosi society: bastard children are assumed to be dishonest and malicious, inherently embarrassing to their parents, and they can’t inherit their fathers’ names or property. Jon’s self-worth demands that he buck the stereotype whenever possible.
He is also always looking for somewhere to belong, but what has happened to him in the past is that any time he thinks he fits in somewhere, he gets promoted. He’d rather be a peer and be included than be the boss and be seen as adversarial by his former friends.
Potential Roles:
Brave Hero Against Poor Odds: this is probably also true of most other characters here, but Jon is especially notable in canon for his selfless, heedless bravado. He may (or may not!) be a legendary, prophesied hero, but if he is, a lot of his side of GoT seems to functionally be about How Being The Chosen One Sucks, Actually.
The Best Big Bro: Jon has a lot of younger half-siblings, and is inclined to mentoring young people.
Muscle: Drag him in. Convince him it’s for the greater good.
The Diplomat: Many of the conflicts Jon is involved in in canon are conflicts where the perspective of the opposing side is understandable, even sympathetic, and in later seasons, he has about as much success as a diplomat as he does in battle. He’s a great mediator, if a plainspoken and blunt one. This can be anything from helping two sides negotiate a compromise to talking someone down, both verbally and physically, from doing something everyone involved will regret.
Guy With Cool Wolf: Yeah, Ghost is around too. He’s essentially a second combatant: usually pretty chill, but will attack to protect Jon or his friends.
Questioning Reality: I did not mean for him to be a weird bellwether for House-of-M/WandaVision-type shenanigans, but here we are. Are you sure this is actually happening?
