street-level action?

FRENDS. so, i've fished around the idea of a smaller, street-level plot for some of the grungier characters in the game, as the larger heroes and the magical bunch get up to their own hijinks, and the mods got back to me! planning is in the beginning stages, so this is an interest check for the (tentative) wip below!

To lay some groundwork, there's no shortage of crime within Central City. Due to the corruption in the city it often goes ignored by baseline human law enforcement and is deliberately kept from the Guardian Alliance. Like Gotham, Central City is trapped in a hopeless cycle.

The most prominent ne'er do wells are the D'Amico family, a staunchly anti-meta crime syndicate which has been around since well before the first confluence. Their fortune is vast and is used to buy their way out of any trouble they happen to find themselves in as they continue to grow their empire. They frequently shake down civilians for protection money and have been known to target meta-human businesses. The Guilds are not aware of this due to the pressure put upon victims to keep quiet and play along. Their threats are also not empty - the D'Amico's are brutal and to the point. If they feel someone will not play along, they simply take them out.

Should anyone delve into this, they'll also hear rumors of a drug which temporarily creates metahuman powers in civilians. This drug is being passed out to the poor and a hefty sum is being offered in exchange for their willingness to test it. By the handful of witness accounts one can glean, this is an exceptionally dangerous drug which has devastating side-effects as the powers are often incompatible with the human body.

Experimentation like this runs counter to The Society's goals and so is unlikely to be linked to them.

If this appeals to you, as you mentioned you would like to use this as a means to get CR with other heroes, it may be a good idea for you to float this early idea on the OOC comm to see who would all like to sign up. Knowing who wants to be involved will allow us to tailor the scope as well as insert hooks tailored to individual characters. Once we know the scope, we'll be more than happy to help hammering down more concrete details and a means for players to sink their teeth into this.
