ahhh i adore balthier!! i definitely love the idea of these two being on the dangling line of good/bad and never fully committing to one or the other. look, she also understands the concept of just wanting to say screw it to the world to just live a carefree life elsewhere with the person you love but then reluctantly getting pulled back into messes elsewhere, so — she gets it.
