Character Name & Journal: Robbie Baldwin / Speedball | an_extra_hour Guild Affiliation: Alliance Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: After a disastrous filming of his super team's reality show Robbie is considered partly responsible for a disaster in Stamford Connecticut that caused 600+ deaths and triggered Marvel's Civil War. Robbie is hustling hard on trying to be a better person and a better hero than he once was, and the change in scenery won't alter his course. This focus on laying down in traffic for everyone else means he doesn't focus on his own needs and he sometimes struggles to recognize he even has a right to them. I'd like to keep playing out his little journey to redemption and moving on and working through the social awkwardness of being the grand high vizier of royal fuck ups.
Plot/CR Hooks: In his world, he's a still-partially-loathed public figure and will always be the Stamford guy. For even those that have stopped hating him, he's regarded (at best) as "redeeming himself" instead of just being considered a good person. I'd like to play around with the freedom of a new world, where he's a nobody to the public and to many non-Marvel 616 characters and can actually breathe a little and develop relationships with those that don't have preconceptions.
I'd like to have him make friends and continue on a path of gradually getting better (even if it's hard). Of course, I'm evil so I'll occasionally throw him into turmoil and trouble first.
Most of all, I especially want to play around with Robbie being in other people's corners when they're going through something hard. He's capable of being kind and loyal, and is world class at goofing around. He's also damaged but incredibly resilient and has lent thatstrengthto others before. He understands suffering and knows how to be gentle or how to be real with people dealing with a thing. He'd especially be keen on trying to support other people that see themselves as trying for redemption or making up for past mistakes.
tl;dr, if he's friends with someone and a plot has some kind of terrifying element like showing you your own fears, he'll pull himself of the ground while also tripping balls and help his friend get out. The world's thrown everything it can at him and he's learned to just kool-aid man through it, even though he's still quite a bit not-okay.
Note: Robbie's backstory contains several triggering elements like child death, x-treme self-harm, suicidal ideation, and institutional abuse in a psych hospital, so I want everyone to know he has an opt out post. These elements are fairly easy to keep out of posts because he's a secretive person when it comes to his problems and I can leave them out of inner dialogue. I usually ask people permission if I want to mention one of these elements, even if it's just in his thoughts. But the opt out is there for people that need to avoid certain elements or avoid him altogether.
