JUNE STATE OF THE GAME
STATE OF THE GAME
⚔︎ THE ALLIANCE HAS begun to announce a few changes. With the change in leadership also comes a change in regulations. All Starfallen need to be registered, allowing new arrivals to slip through their fingers is no longer an option. When Confluences are foretold, the Alliance will be sending in their own team of heroes to help corral up new arrivals, get their information, and ensure they do pick a guild to be registered with within their first two months. The current plan is to use the Alliance hero known as TAG to mark them. Tag is able to keep track of up to fifty five individuals at once, as long as she is able to first "tag" them. This works similarly to placing a tracker on a person, except one can't take off Tag's "tracker" without killing her.
This is a temporary measure, until the Alliance is able to find technology they can use to track down new arrivals without Mechanima being able to break it.
All Metahumans, regardless of where they came from, now need to be registered. Any world natives who discover they have newfound abilities need to immediately make their way to the closest Alliance facility for assistance getting registered. The Alliance will redirect new metas to the Society as needed, too, but they must go through the Alliance first so the Alliance knows they have registered.
There is no current plan for registering everyone who is not registered, but announcements make it clear the plan is incoming. Unregistered metas are encouraged to make their way to the closest Alliance facility to begin the registration process.
Rumors fly regarding what happened just before the changeover. Some say that Fantastic caught wind of Atomight having conversations with Mechanima about the "parasites". Some say that Atomight risked everyone by helping the little girl who had been causing the storms in the previous month. Some say Atomight has always been working alongside Frances and Mechanima. That he's been helping the villains, the Unaligned, and clearly that can't be allowed to continue.
Some say this was all part of Fantastic's plan. Others say Fantastic isn't that clever, and something else must be going on behind the curtains. Most the Alliance isn't happy about it, many natives and Starfallen alike have been abandoning the Alliance, registering instead with the Society.
The Alliance has been bleeding heroes, and many who have stayed - don't seem happy about it. FAST REVERSE, an Alliance-signed time traveler who can travel twenty seconds into the past via running backwards very fast, recently did an interview with RUE MOORE, stating that while many Alliance heroes have been. . struggling to adapt to the changes, they still believe in what the Alliance stands for: gifted abilities should be used selflessly, to protect the world around them.
Many wonder what this means for the future of the guilds system. Not many will speak publicly about it.
⚔︎ LITTLE LOVE - Little love has always been quiet, but now? It feels almost eerie. As if residents of the little town are all holding their breath, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Something is wrong, wrong enough that even they're feeling it. ATLAS WASHINGTON is currently visiting his grandparents, which few of the locals are gossiping about among themselves. He is, after all, a very well-known reporter. It's almost like having a celebrity in town.
⚔︎ CENTRAL CITY - Quarantine continues, with MECHANIMA making sure his presence in the city is well-documented. He's seen lingering around some of the facilities he's set up to house infected citizens, fighting off a few Alliance heroes with his collection of drones that follow him around. NULLS, a teen-aged villain who has gone through a few aliases but is recognizable as one of Mechanima's self-proclaimed sidekicks, has been making waves through social media. Every time references to quarantine and the 'infection' are posted publicly, those posts are immediately replaced with opossum memes. All replies are replaced with opossum memes. Any post made in reference to them that aren't public, but refer to them as parasites - also replaced with opossum memes. Quarantine doesn't matter, only opossums. Technologically inclined characters can track this down to an apartment building in the business district of Central City - but do they really want to follow up on it? After all, it could be a trap.
⚔︎ SUNSET FALLS - SILENT MYSTIC is in town! Residents may spot him entering the high school to check in on the Hellmouth, but trying to chase him down proves to be fairly futile; he rounds corners, and disappears without a trace. Given the current state of the Alliance - is anyone truly surprised he's keeping himself away from headquarters? And he seems to be carting around a new sidekick, a young hero whose features are extremely hard to nail down. Their color theme remains the same: black outlined with blues and purples, but everything else is in constant flux. Their age shifts anywhere from ten to nineteen. Their facial features, from the shape of their jawline to the color of their eyes, changes between sightings. When they do communicate with others, it's wholly through ASL. And given how his interns generally stick to the cities the guilds have significant presence in - what's so special about this one?
⚔︎ EXCELSIOR - Excelsior is recovering from the cannibalistic plants and raptor invasion; there's a lot of damage to repair, and they want to make sure they're getting it done as quickly as possible especially given the news the Alliance has released. It's only a matter of time before Fantastic's takeover comes back to bite everyone, and Excelsior is well aware of that. There are whispers that Excelsior, even as well-known as the city is for their dislike of metahumans, is working with a few trusted unaligned metas to secure a couple safehouses. For what? Who knows.

HOUSEKEEPING
Hello, Heroes!
⚔︎ Over the next few months, Metaheroes' posting schedule may be a little inconsistent. Due to the nature of the Fantastic event, we're planning on being flexible with when to get up follow up information and our next planned mod posts, in order to allow for player character action to help shape the end results. We want you to help us figure out the future direction of the game! With this in mind, we're going to be utilizing June and July for working out the plot direction and wrap up.
The CALENDAR reflects our current schedule accurately up through August, including estimated shifted dates.
⚔︎ Have any fun plans? Hit us up on PLAYER PLOTS! If you want to follow up on an event, investigate the setting or interact with a NPC, you can also hit up SETTING ENGAGEMENT and NPC ENGAGEMENT respectively.
⚔︎ For the June application round, any current player can extend two invitations. We will not have a July application round due to planned events. Players planning to invite someone this round should comment below with the player's information!
⚔︎ This game has an unofficial DISCORD SERVER! As a reminder, the moderators will not be monitoring the server's contents. However, players who have issues in the server are still welcome to bring their concerns to us at MOD CONTACT, just as they would with Plurk.

⚔︎ FEBRUARY ARRIVALS LOSE THEIR FREE RIDE! When characters first arrived, the guilds promised to help them get their footing. Per notices sent to each occupied room, characters had until MAY 27TH before their stay at the Diadem Hotel comes to an end. Characters who commit to a guild may take advantage of the associated housing subsidy or may use their own personal income to secure private housing.
Players unsure whether this affects their characters can check on the GUILDS page. As characters are removed from the Diadem Hotel, players should comment to the HOUSING page with updates on where they are staying. The deadline for March arrivals is JUNE 27.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU —
Welcome, new heroes! Please use the form below to introduce yourself and start plotting if you'd like:

There are numerous network connections coming from within the building. The wifi network "G0DZ1LLA" is connected with the specific IP address that the opposum takeover is coming from. The signal is strongest towards the upper floors.

He doesn't have any reason to want to disrupt the source since given current circumstances and what he's learned of the whole parasite predicament, he can understand not wanting to let the actual details get out. He might hang around a bit to see if anyone else with less curious interests might have tracked things down too.

By "spot", we mean see them go into the building, only for the South-facing walls to open up somewhere between the second and fifteenth floor to throw them out - singed and knocked out cold. A few drones will come by a little after they've been thrown out, picking up heroes up to deliver them back to Alliance headquarters, or deliver cops back to the station they came from.
None of the residents seem to find this odd at all.

Seeing the PC there is pretty tempting though, especially with no one apparently at the helm. He'd love to get a look at that code...
The halls are boobytrapped so the more mundane methods of entry are covered in regards to intruders, but he wouldn't be surprised if externally the same applies. Anything on the roof or along the windows that might trip some security?

...of course Donnie realizes he can potentially circumvent all this by just mystic-teching something within the apartment To test this he'll start with a tiny drone with a camera.

Gonna do a liiiittle once around to check things out before he conjures up a kind of USB transmitter to do some quick data transfer once he hopefully tackles any security issues. Depending on whether he's successful or not, he'll unpack things later once he's away from here.

There will be one text file on it, which, when opened, simply displays I SEE YOU 😉😉😉 in large bold letters. It won't hurt his system.
But Donnie's ability to break in far enough and extract data has been noted. He may have earned himself a new fan.

cackleOHBOYWell, he might be a little disappointed but overall not terribly surprised. Well played, well played. u.u
