Hello everyone! Thank you for joining us as we get this little game off the ground. As we end the first month and move into the second, we figured it'd be a great idea to touch base.

Below are a list of prompts for ongoing events around the world that characters can engage in — either for plotting individual threads, or as a ladder to plan larger plots.
ONBOARDING. Characters who make the decision to sign on with one of the guilds will find themselves getting a crash course in the behind the scenes of costumed living. The guilds will be running intense POWERS TRAINING sessions to help characters learn to control their new abilities as quickly as possible. Those who are already in control are welcome to join in and mentor the newbies.
LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT. The Guilds have arranged for the world’s newest dimensionally displaced members to visit the cities that they can move to. Characters will be given temporary multi-use teleport tokens. These tokens are anchored to specific points.
OOC Housekeeping
We want to remind folks that the emphasis of Meta Heroes is facilitating player plots. While we will post mod event logs and a mod plot, it exists largely as a framework to explain why events are happening and introduce new mechanics, and to prevent the game from stagnating. To borrow a comics analogy, mod events are just the crossover events between players' solo titles.
Everything in our game has been designed to give players a massive, flexible world they can get their hands on and make their own. As mods, we’re here to give players the tools to write these titles. We're here to 'yes, and' your fun, or offer a 'no, but' in the event something isn't feasible within the game's preexisting logic. What we ask in turn is that you work together to write great stories and come up with fun ideas! Each of your contributions to the game will be documented for later reference.

metaooc serve as the PLOTTING HUB of the game. Big thanks to Timmy and Bugly for breaking the ice there. We additionally have a PERMANENT OPEN DISCUSSION POST about the game here for players to discuss ideas, problems, and solutions. We also encourage players to post any ideas they may have to the comms to develop and collaborate on them, even if they're just at the budding stages!
⚔︎ We haven't yet created a DISCORD SERVER for the game as we wanted to put it to the players to vote on. Please note that such a server would be largely unmoderated. Please register a vote under the 'DISCORD SERVER' comment header if you have an opinion on creating one or not creating one.
⚔︎ We've refreshed the FAQ with a little note about fourth-walling. Please note that all forms of fourth-walling must be opt-in only. If you haven't talked to a player about fourth-walling their character and gotten permission, please steer clear of having your characters recognize others from popular media.
⚔︎ We're going to experiment with a PLOT WORKSHOP in lieu of CR memes. You can find the first one HERE. If this proves to be insufficient as a means of developing CR, we will take that into consideration. We welcome your feedback.
⚔︎ Note: dates on our STATIC CALENDAR PAGE provide a general layout for the pace of the game and coming events, including reserves and applications. Finalized dates will be provided by these STATE OF THE GAME posts, and may differ slightly from what you see in the static Google Calendar.
⚔︎ For the February APPLICATION round, any current player can extend ONE INVITATION. If you're planning to invite someone, please drop the player's name and the name of the character they'll be playing in the INVITE header on this post!
⚔︎ We're seeking game-wide PLAYER PLOTS for March. We intend to schedule these on the calendar as normal game events. Please feel free to brainstorm ideas together in the comments below or inmetaooc, or bring us a plot idea (however rough) on the PLOTTING page. We're happy to help you flesh things out, and your fellow players are too!

ALLIANCE members will be sat down with the marketing, branding, and costuming departments to help work on that hero identity, your name, your signature colors, etc. They’ll also arrange for you to spend time with more seasoned heroes, who will run you through guild protocols and rules. If you’ve got a specific career goal in mind they’ll help you achieve it. SOCIETY members will be sat down with the Society’s costuming and legal departments. They will also take a meeting with one of the society’s code enforcers who will lay out the Code for them… and the consequences should they break it. Once that’s understood, they’ll gladly help you look for meaningful civilian employment and forge whatever credentials you might need to get it. Those who are determined to stay UNALIGNED will be slipped the contact information for Frances Starling, a local metahuman lawyer. Frances will walk you through the expectations of being a powerful metahuman who refuses to sign on with the guilds, and the difficult realities you’ll face. She’ll also help you find housing and employment.

CENTRAL CITY will drop you directly into the DIADEM hotel. This is meant to be the return coin. You can walk to the apartments available from the hotel. LITTLE LOVE will drop you just outside of town hall. They’ve been told that the government is setting up a new program to fill some of the abandoned farms in town and they’re expecting you. The town is too busy rebuilding to put on much of a show to welcome any potential new citizens, but they’d definitely appreciate a hand in putting things back together. The city is quiet and friendly. A farmer will drive you to the farms in his beat up old truck so you can take a look at the houses. SUNSET FALLS will drop you onto the roof of the local high school. The city is full of magic, you feel your skin crawl at its very touch. There isn’t much in the way of entertainment here, but you can see from the missing persons posters plastered all over town that you’d have your hands full trying to uncover its mysteries. EXCELSIOR drops you off just outside of its business district. The city is enormous and bustling and no one even spares you a passing glance. There are flying cars, people dressed in chic chrome clothing that looks straight out of a fashion magazine, and no shortage of things to busy yourself with.
