MAY OOC INTRO & PLOTTING

OOC INTRO & PLOTTING
HELLO, HEROES AND VILLAINS! Welcome to [community profile] metaheroes! We're absolutely delighted to have you here. This is both our OOC introduction and plotting for your initial arrival! Please use the information below to guide your plotting as you settle in.

Confluences appear to be changing. Though most people fall together, you are free to have your character's arrival happen later in the week.

You are free to post your intro after reading this post! We will not be posting a log for this.

The GUILDS have begun employing safety measures to prevent new arrivals from destroying the cities they land in. As seen on the last TEST DRIVE MEME, the cities have set up ways to catch the new arrivals and bring them to headquarters as quickly as possible.

SUNSET FALLS, MASSACHUSETTS—
The first thing you notice is the wind screaming past your ears, and the heavy beating of your heart… no, not yours. It’s out of sync with the thrumming in your chest.

Those of you with enough wits to look around may spy something glowing in the distance, in the roiling clouds over the ocean. Something massive stirs. As it does you feel yourself grow dizzy, the pounding becoming louder and louder as you fight the desire to scream.

THREADS OF MYSTICAL ENERGY rush up to meet you, grabbing for limbs and catching you before you make landfall, the moment they touch you the sound is severed and there’s only the sound of those around you screaming as they fall. A NET MADE OF STARS has come up to cradle you, giving you a much gentler entry into this world than most others have received thus far. The Silent Mystic and Chaos Gate may not like it, but they do make a hell of a team.

These saviors introduce themselves as representatives of the Guardian Alliance and Society, and upon determining that you are all well, open a portal to transport you to their newly established NEUTRAL BASE. Once you’re given a clean bill of health, you’re directed to the DIADEM HOTEL.

Other heroes stationed in Sunset Falls may wait with baited breath for disaster to come. But other than a few broken mailboxes from those the spell missed, there doesn’t seem to be any sign of further strangeness.

Yet as the new arrivals lay their heads down to sleep, they may hear the beating of a heart that is not their own.
.

LODGINGS —
Once the Guardian Alliance arrives on the scene in Excelsior and controls the situation, characters will be provided with lodgings in the DIADEM HOTEL. Here, guests are offered the finest home away from home experience you could ever hope for. Their culinary staff are capable of cooking up everything from hotdogs to gourmet cuisine. The pool, lounge, and fitness rooms are all open 24/7. Given the continued influx of new guests, arrivals may find their rooms have been double-booked. Hopefully it's a room with two queen-sized beds instead of a king!

Characters are also free to roam CENTRAL CITY and get their bearings, though at the moment, with the guilds distracted and the city doing major repairs following the damage by the Confluence, there is plenty of crime to stop or cause. Characters will be given cell phones with three months of pre-paid unlimited data and assistance with setting up social media accounts on the guild networks, as well as credit cards to help them start a life here.

Player characters will be offered the chance to join the guilds. Those who join will be offered housing at one of the four major cities, with each one offering a different living experience. Characters have two months to decide if they want to throw in with one of the guilds and enjoy the perks of membership, or deal with making their own way in the world without their support.

MAY FLOWERS...? —
While Sunset Falls is spared from destruction, strange flowers begin to bloom throughout the city. The scent of these flowers appear to have an uplifting effect. Characters will feel capable of doing anything after a single whiff. This boost in attitude appears to come with a significant increase in power and skill at whatever you set your mind to.

You may feel a strange compulsion to pick one of these blossoms. Should you put it in a vase you'll find that within hours it has grown new roots and become hydroponic. In your hands it changes color to match your emotional state. After holding it you may be reluctant to set it down - and like when put in a vase, within hours, it will begin to try to bond to you. The flower doesn't appear to be feeding on you, though. It simply clings for dear life.

If left alone for too long, you may find yourself falling under this flower’s thrall. Seeking to spread its influence you may begin giving others sprouts of this strange blossom. Many residents of Sunset Falls know better than to pick strange flowers, but picking becomes less of an option when they begin to grow everywhere. Within a few days the city's gardens are overtaken, and more are sprouting in the pavement and along buildings. Though the city may be more peaceful, this peace seems to be coming at the price of people’s free will.

The seeds of these flowers appear to be clinging to the new arrivals. Though largely immune to their effects themselves, others around them may begin to act strangely. Older characters may feel compelled to be close to them. This compulsion may be followed by a sense of impending doom and may result in extreme protectiveness. They may also be susceptible to following any commands issued. They may also find their abilities are stronger when in the presence of these new arrivals.

Any who become infected with the plant spores may also find themselves feeling… afraid. It’s difficult to put your finger on just what that fear is stemming from, but it seems to have a direction. That fear begins near Sunset Falls, retreating only as these strange alien flowers begin to take over the city as though repelled by them. It moves northwards and then becomes too far gone to sense.

Being away from these plants for a few hours is enough to cure yourself of their influence, assuming they aren't growing on you. You can try investigating the cause, or find a way to kill these weeds before they overtake everything. Report your actions here to find out what happens!

Regardless of how the problem is solved, these effects will last until JUNE 3RD.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU —
Please use the form below to introduce yourself and start plotting:

Hibiki Tachibana | Senki Zesshou Symphogear

[personal profile] determinationtofist 2022-05-27 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name & Pronouns: OddEyes (he/him/they/them)
Preferred Communication: [plurk.com profile] OddEyes

Character Name & Journal: Hibiki Tachibana [personal profile] determinationtofist

Guild Affiliation: In all likeliness, she's probably going to go with the Alliance. She already works with a government-run group back home, after all.

Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: So, a big part in Hibiki's character is how much she treasures her relationships and connections... especially one in particular, being her bond with a girl named Miku Kohinata, her precious sunshine and—let's face it—the love of her life. Having suddenly vanished without a word or any kind of warning, she's understandably going to be pretty... upset. She already worries Miku plenty just by being a Symphogear Wielder, and they also just went through a lot together. Vanishing off the face of the Earth so suddenly would be bound to make anybody worried, and the fact that she can't even contact home to let anybody know that she's safe is... stress-inducing.

Plus, more obviously, she's gonna miss all of them a whole lot. She'll do her best to remain positive, but ultimately it'll be up to others to try and figure out when she's actually happy and when she's using her smile as a facade to hide her unease. Fair warning, though, it's not easy to tell. Fact is, she's probably going to spend a good chunk of time focusing on trying to find a way back home, even if she has no idea where to even start with that.

Would it probably help if some castmates ended up here? Probably, but while I am definitely going to try and yell into the void asking for said-castmates (my kingdom for a Miku muse), how successful that'll be is... debatable. She'll adjust with time, obviously, but get ready for Sad Useless Lesbian hours.

As for her work as a Hero... SHE'S ACTUALLY GONNA BE STRUGGLING HERE FOR A BIT. Obviously, if she needs to save somebody or don her Symphogear, she will, but she's kind of intimidated by the idea of being, like, famous. She would really like to conceal her identity, BUT UNFORTUNATELY... she is anything but subtle. No, like, literally.

Her abilities are powered by SONG. Her gear DOES NOT come with a mask, she's essentially singing her heart out whenever she has to use her Gear to it's full potential, and again... SHE CAN'T COVER HER FACE. Her gear converts her into her gear, so any clothes she was wearing at the time go away until the gear comes back, where it then converts her back into what she was initially wearing. SO THIS MAKES MASKS A LITTLE COMPLICATED. She is about as unsubtle as you can get, both in her fighting style and the fact she'll likely end up becoming some kind of idol if she's not careful.

She needs help... and as do I, actually. If anybody has any suggestions on how to conceal Hibiki's identity (either an ic suggestion or an ooc one), by all means, please shoot them here. She absolutely wants to help and save people, but as exciting as being famous sounds... being recognized wherever she goes sounds kinda stressful to her.

Plot/CR Hooks: Hibiki is what happens when you mix Magical Girls with Mecha and Idols. She's a Magical Girl powered by a hi-tech outfit of Karaoke Armor known as a Symphogear, which is powered by Phonic Gain, a type of energy generated via singing. The Symphogear provides the music and backup, and the user has lyrics related to their mental state beamed into their mind to sing as they fight. I am not kidding.

Hibiki lives her life determined to help and save others. Whether it's as simple as saving a cat from a tree or punching gods, Hibiki will be there. She's honestly a pretty powerful beast... to the point that it's honestly a little silly at times, even to other characters in the show, who find it hard to ever imagine Hibiki losing in a proper fight. It especially helps when you consider that her gear has a conceptual advantage against Gods and other divine entities.

That being said, she is still a teenager, and a shining beacon of positivity and faith in humanity. Her true power comes not from a closed fist, but an open hand that wants to connect with others. She'll be drawn to you if you have good vibes, and she'll be drawn to you even if you have bad vibes. She will want to be your friend and you will not escape this.
