OOC INTRO & PLOTTING
HELLO, HEROES AND VILLAINS! Welcome to metaheroes! We're absolutely delighted to have you here. This is both our OOC introduction and plotting for your initial arrival! Please use the information below to guide your plotting as you settle in.

You are free to post your intro after reading this post! We will not be posting a log for this.

The GUILDS have begun employing safety measures to prevent new arrivals from destroying the cities they land in. As seen on the last TEST DRIVE MEME, the cities have set up ways to intercept the new arrivals and bring them to headquarters as quickly as possible.

TRUST NOT JULY SKIES — CENTRAL CITY

The first well-needed thunderstorm of the July season brings with it yet another storm of falling people. A crack of thunder, a flash of brilliant lightning, and bodies are sent tumbling to the earth. The mystical failsafes will reach out to catch you before you hit the ground, though they’re only as competent as the wizards who cast them and you may find yourself lost in an unfamiliar city.

Fear not. There are heroes (and villains) combing the streets for new arrivals such as yourself. However you are free to slip further into the city, investigating the world you've fallen into and learning how to make your own way within it.

Throughout the week the sky will be behaving... oddly. Gaze for too long at those dark rolling clouds and you may feel yourself unmoored. The world around you stops feeling like this one you've come to know. You may feel the sticky heat of the one you've left. The ache of wounds you bore upon your arrival. Something seems to be pulling and you feel yourself falling, the world only righting itself when your body forces you to blink and look away. You gasp, drawing air into your lungs, and feel the compulsion to run for shelter.

The people of this world don't seem to have this problem. Yet others who fell to this world will report similar feelings. A sense of being drawn back, of being unbalanced. Perhaps it would be best to get out of the city. To find somewhere else to stay, enjoy a nice beach vacation until those stormclouds blow away.

The Guilds both appear to be relatively satisfied that this confluence only brought new people and didn't empower the populace any further than it already has been. The sheer amounts of destruction are getting hard to keep up with.

But it feels like you've arrived on the cusp of something... major. There's a spark in the air just waiting to catch fire.

LODGINGS —

Once the Guardian Alliance arrives in Atlantis to offer new arrivals an explanation and transport back to the surface, characters will be provided with lodgings in the DIADEM HOTEL. Here, guests are offered the finest home away from home experience you could ever hope for. Their culinary staff are capable of cooking up everything from hotdogs to gourmet cuisine. The pool, lounge, and fitness rooms are all open 24/7. Given the continued influx of new guests, arrivals may find their rooms have been double-booked. Hopefully it's a room with two queen-sized beds instead of a king!

Characters are also free to roam CENTRAL CITY and get their bearings, though at the moment, with the guilds distracted and the city doing major repairs following the damage by the Confluence, there is plenty of crime to stop or cause. Characters will be given cell phones with three months of pre-paid unlimited data and assistance with setting up social media accounts on the guild networks, as well as credit cards to help them start a life here.

Player characters will be offered the chance to join the guilds. Those who join will be offered housing at one of the four major cities, with each one offering a different living experience. Characters have two months to decide if they want to throw in with one of the guilds and enjoy the perks of membership, or deal with making their own way in the world without their support.

Guild Affiliation: They really aren't much of a joiner, so definitely going to go unaligned.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Sleeper is a pretty easygoing agender polymorphic alien ooze who just happens to favor a cat-like shape. That said, they tend towards a lot of stereotypical cat behaviors, like showing up on their own schedule and not really being invested in things that don't really revolve around them. At least on the surface. They are also incredibly loyal and willing to do a lot to protect those they care about.

Sleeper doesn't have any hard goals as yet, beyond taking care of Dylan Brock because someone has to help with that, and they're the responsible sibling in the family.

Plot/CR Hooks: Sleeper blends, but only to a point. They really aren't interested in playing human or cat or anything else perfectly, although they easily could. So there's plenty of opportunity to see a cat-like thing with extra eyes and bright yellow stripes on slick black substance doing things no cat actually should be, such as using a cellular phone, talking, etc. Of course, if they have to fight, they can definitely take care of things.

Cassandra Cain-Wayne | DC Comics

Character Name & Journal: Cassandra Cain-Wayne louder_than_words
Guild Affiliation: Cass has never met a rule she likes following. She will not be joining any Guilds anytime soon.

Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Right now Cassandra is trying to find her identity outside of Batgirl. She did not choose to give it up, but enough time has passed and she has grown in ways that means she does not necessarily want it back. Right now she is trying to reconcile who she was, what she's done, and what she wants to be. She wants to find a place in the world that she fits, and she's worried that isn't Gotham anymore.

Plot/CR Hooks: Cassandra is a fighter through and through-- both literally and metaphorically. She can't stand injustice, will try to protect anyone at any cost (even the bad guys), and has a very, very strict no-killing rule. She's terrible at not getting involved. Especially when a problem can be solved with well-intentioned violence.

Meeting her in uniform is easy-- she'll be doing what she does best, kicking ass and not bothering to take names (and looking terrifying while doing it). Her civilian identity is more complicated, but she has a tendency to find small rituals where she can (having a regular coffeeshop, taking regular walks, that kind of thing). She's not going to be using social media much, especially at first, so in-person interactions are the best way to get to know her.

OOC note: I am aware that there was a Cass in-game previously. I am okay with there being some confusion at first, I would just prefer that it doesn't become a big, long-term issue. Feel free to contact me if there's complicated CR stuff to work out between a character and the previous Cass.

Hi, I'm Bugly (she/her) and I play this cool cat here as well as Bart Allen/Kid Flash here. So obviously things will happen sooner or later with ours. Previous Cass didn't really interact with Bart so there isn't any real trouble there.

She's also totally welcome to ghost in and out of Bart's farm and visit with his slowly growing menagerie that is nowhere as bad as crazy as Damian's. It's only a cat with anxiety issues and 11 nearly grown bantam easter egger hens. (The eleventh chick was an accidental rooster and he now lives with Eddie Brock and Venom with a promise to not eat him)

Character Name & Journal: Yennefer of Vengerberg (choicely)

Guild Affiliation: Yen is definitely going to be sussing out her options first before immediately jumping into an affiliation with any one side — she'll want to determine where it benefits her the most to align herself, and possibly even settle on being unaffiliated at the end of it all depending on what she learns. Basically, right now she's feeling things out.

Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: The Cliff's Notes version is that Yennefer is a sorceress from a place in the world of The Witcher called the Continent, and as of her canon point has a bit of atoning to do for recent past actions, up to and including brief child kidnapping (not her finest moment, but definitely her most desperate hour!). Anyway, she won't be entirely convinced that her arrival here isn't another Convergence (which is a phenomenon that happened in her own world wherein several worlds combined in on one another and led to things like humans and elves and monsters co-existing in the same space), so she's going to be looking pretty deeply into how she got here and what it might be a sign of, as well as talking to whoever she can about what they've gone through so far. She tends to like to acquire information without always offering any in return (mostly about herself), so folks can look forward to being light interrogated without necessarily learning much beyond what she's willing to share!

Plot/CR Hooks: Yennefer at her current canon point is in a very different place, emotionally, than she would be at any other time in the series — she's still very guarded in terms of her feelings, but she's also been somewhat more humbled by her experience with losing her magic for a time and isn't in the same position of taking it for granted. I don't have any immediate goals or aims for her, and I tend to do a lot of CR-based plotting as well, so the closer she gets to certain people, the more potential there is for plans to take shape and evolve.

In terms of CR wishes, really just here to toss her at everyone and anyone! Some types she might more inclined toward are: people who hail from any kind of magic-based world (or worlds that include magic or another form of power) would be a source of fascination for her, ladies especially; fellow olds/immortals who are actually much older than they appear (Yen is in her early eighties or so); children/young adults that she might make an attempt to mother in her own misguided way; more talkative/outgoing characters for her to either tolerate or barely disguise her annoyance for. Romance, at this stage, is probably not in the cards for her, at least outside of a select few, but she could potentially pursue some type of casual physical relationship with someone she found intriguing enough or wasn't seriously irritated by — even a friends-with-occasional-benefits situation where there's no risk of deeper emotions coming into play. I'm definitely not opposed to negative CR in the slightest because she's got a tendency to rub people the wrong way by her very nature, and she could even lend herself to more than a few frenemies or begrudging allies as well.

I have a small permissions post written up for her as well; Yen's canon has some particular warnings of note that could be triggering, so if you'd prefer to avoid any mention of certain subjects in her tags (or opt out of interactions where those subjects might come up), please let me know!

Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: steph is coming from a pretty good place in canon so her initial focus is going to be on settling in and investigating this world, but eventually I'd like to work on her getting properly involved in the hero scene and to make some friends. she's been something of an outsider with the heroes in her world, and i just think it would be neat if she had more acceptance and a support system

Plot/CR Hooks: it's going to be pretty easy to meet her as batgirl, since she'll be spending a decent amount of time in that get up, and she'll definitely be unable to stop herself getting involved if she sees any kind of shenanigans happening

as a civilian, steph is pretty chill and friendly, happy to strike up a conversation and get to know someone. she makes a good sounding board, is (relatively) sensible and empathetic, so she can be there to lend a sympathetic ear and help people out when they might need it. she also has a pretty high tolerance for grumpy/closed off characters, if you need a ray of sunshine to bother your raincloud character

Steph!! Sure, they're both sympathetic, friendly, and with strangely high tolerance levels for grumpy/closed off characters... but also Hibiki is a dummy, so if you'd like to be friends with the brightest genki girl you'll ever meet, by all means.

Also potentially things can be done with Hibiki's secret identity? Seeing as she's... now a famous singing superhero idol. I've got no ideas concerning it, but still, its out there.

Guild Affiliation: He will probably be PRETTY EASILY SWAYED into membership to the Guardian Alliance.

Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: He just wants to :) help people :) Flynn's pretty selfless like that, falling into the ol' trope of "helps people so much he doesn't take care of himself." He'll want to get home, of course, but his goals for here is to settle into the Guardian Alliance and see how things turn out there. A side goal for me is to take this medieval knight and introduce him to technology, because that's always funny.

Plot/CR Hooks: He's very much into justice, to the point of being a little busybody. Criminals beware but to be honest, everyone beware, even minor crimes catch his attention. Any murder- no matter the circumstance- is a huge attention grabber to him. So if anyone wants anime Javert, he's perfect for that.

Other than getting on his bad side via crime, he's a pleasant, polite sort of guy with a decent competitive streak and easily embarrassed. Yes, he'll still be walking around in his full suit of armor, as he's pretty proud of being a Knight.

Guild Affiliation: She's probably going to be swayed into the Alliance thanks to a certain Gungnir and her local antics, but it'll be a bit before she joins because of her history with any governing body. Thanks, America.

Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Well overarching goals would be keeping the people of the world safe from any overarching danger, just because she understands what fighting and strife do to people. Another one would become an idol again, just because she truly believes that being one will soothe hurting hearts and to do it on her own accord. (Again, thanks, America.) As for short term, really just her getting situated in Metaheroes and making friends that aren't Symphogear wielders (and people experiencing the insanity that is the Symphogear armor).

Plot/CR Hooks: She's got a cat transformation thanks to the confluence, so there's definitely that and getting used to the transformation aspect of that! She's also got two whole sets of Symphogear armor (Airgetlam and Gungnir) so when she's doing hero stuff she'll be switching in-between them. White armor and black armor is bound to cause confusion and headaches. She's also just a regular old girl so she'll definitely be caught shopping and making sure her superhero persona always has a good image.

Guild Affiliation: Extremely malleable. He will likely join the Guardian Alliance if he meets anyone positive from there. He’s a Greek demogod; they’re inclined to heroics. However, if too many heroes judge him for his powers/his father being Hades, he won’t join.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Nico doesn’t want anything. He wants to go home. Leave him alone.

(His friends, please. Barring that, someone to look after him in the absence of Will and Camp Halfblood. Make sure he’s eating and not overusing his powers. Maybe someone to talk to if it all gets too much.)

Plot/CR Hooks:

A whole lot of trouble and skipping school. He’ll actually raise up a skeleton army if that’s what it takes to not be forced into another school, and he’ll probably try to just walk up to the Hellmouth in Sunset Falls once he finds out about it.

He needs to find some friends his age, or near his age, and one or two older ones to look up to. Preferably people who weren’t born in 1932 and will teach him how to use computers and things like that, or maybe to coax him back into various nerdy card/figure based tabletops.

If your character is/was dead, he can likely tell.

If your character has a good sense of smell, Nico smells like rain on a stone (also described as like death, but it’s meant in a cold/barren way and not like rot.)

If your character is something that can be interpreted as a monster, they can probably smell him a mile away and he likely smells more delicious than standard mortals.

Guild Affiliation: Alliance-leaning, but if she detects any really bad pings, she might stay unaligned.

Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals:Mayuko is coming out of five years in zombie summer camp; the plus side is that she won’t be stuck in one location anymore, and that she is accustomed to really strange things happening on the regular. On the other hand, she’s a civilian trying out permanent superpowers, how scary/cool is that? Her main priority is going to be learning about this version of Earth, what makes it different from hers. In particular, the guild system is of interest; how they’re managing the influx of metas (or not) and how much influence they have. (ALSO the Sunset Falls Public Library has a tentacle monster AND living books? Mayuko finding out about it will be DELIGHTED.)

Plus she’ll be wanting to sort out her financial situation because

look at this face. This is (a representation of) Jun, Mayuko’s puppy that she adopted while in Camp. Jun desires treats, stuffed animals to tear up and LOTS OF BOTH. And they don’t fall from the sky, so better make that cheddar! (People, well, I guess that’s another story.)

I am interested in the possible connections she’ll make--she’s slow to make friends but once someone is in, she’ll be equal parts supportive and protective. She wants to be a dependable member of her “community”: guildwise, citywise, or just in her circle of friends.

Plot/CR Hooks:
*Mayuko's skillset is partially information-based: she can read almost any text from Earth (with caveats of course) and she can mentally index and replicate what she's read for a set amount of time. Plus her offensive/defensive powers are dependent on her own energy.... So she is less a frontliner than a sneaky ninjaspy type, at least to start. That might come in handy for some missions?

*She will gladly Responsible Adult at the young'uns, and will be slightly more chill around other adults (with the occasional dramatic tsundere outburst once she gets more comfortable). She's an odd blend of normalcy matched with some weird and frightening past experiences! Talk books with her, or help her figure things out about the world/ her powers, gain social link points!
