ARRIVAL - EXCELSIOR
Once again, the sky has cracked open, and new arrivals are falling into this world.
This Confluence is far more typical, compared to last month's series of cataclysms, but new arrivals have the misfortune to find themselves dropped into Excelsior. The futuristic city has been rocked by several meta-related catastrophes in recent months, and the people here have had enough. There's anti-meta protestors out in the streets on a fairly regular basis, and local politicians are even starting to discuss creating power nullification zones - using some recently-rediscovered technology - to limit metahuman influence within city limits. This has, of course, prompted counter-protests from local metas themselves. To many of them, forced power nullification could range anywhere from unpleasant to potentially lethal.
All in all, newbies are finding themselves in a very unfriendly climate. Alliance and Society members have been dispatched to try and find them before anything goes horribly wrong - hopefully they can meet up with some friendly faces fast.

LODGINGS —
Once the Guardian Alliance has gathered everyone up and transported them from Excelsior to the somewhat more friendly Central City, characters will be provided with lodgings in the DIADEM HOTEL. Here, guests are offered the finest home away from home experience you could ever hope for. Their culinary staff are capable of cooking up everything from hotdogs to gourmet cuisine. The pool, lounge, and fitness rooms are all open 24/7. Given the continued influx of new guests, arrivals may find their rooms have been double-booked. Hopefully it's a room with two queen-sized beds instead of a king!
Characters are also free to roam CENTRAL CITY and get their bearings, though at the moment, with the guilds distracted and the city doing major repairs following the damage by the Confluence, there is plenty of crime to stop or cause. Characters will be given cell phones with three months of pre-paid unlimited data and assistance with setting up social media accounts on the guild networks, as well as credit cards to help them start a life here.
Player characters will be offered the chance to join the guilds. Those who join will be offered housing at one of the four major cities, with each one offering a different living experience. Characters have two months to decide if they want to throw in with one of the guilds and enjoy the perks of membership, or deal with making their own way in the world without their support.

SLINGS AND ARROWS - EXCELSIOR
Whether you're a new arrival or a meta who's been here a while, there's a lot going down in the city of Excelsior lately.
You can join the pro-meta protestors rallying against power nullification technology being brought back into use. Or perhaps you agree that metahumans are dangerous, and would rather join the opposition? As long as you aren't visibly non-human and no one saw you arrive via dimensional rift recently, you can probably get away with it - Excelsior's a big city, after all, and there's every chance that some of these protestors drove in from out of town.
It should be noted that these aren't being organized by either of the Guilds, per se. While Atomight, the leader of the Guardian Alliance, has spoken out against this kind of anti-meta legislation, his presence in his official Guild capacity means that he's largely here as a silent observer. He's standing sternly on the side of the pro-meta groups, which certainly helps to deter any counter-protestors who might otherwise get ideas, but it doesn't seem like he's got much freedom to truly join the protest right now. His reticence may be politically sound, but it might not be enough - rumors are circulating that he's only a figurehead for the Alliance these days, and leadership may soon officially pass to Fantastic, who is much more amenable to the kinds of metahuman restrictions these very protests are against.
As far as the Society goes, there's no sign of Mechanima. But then again, that depowering tech sure isn't getting fired up at all. Occasionally, one may see a pixelated smile appearing on the enormous electronic billboards around town.
Unlike both official leaders, Frances Starling, the unofficial leader of unaffiliated metas, has made her position extremely clear. She's on the ground in Excelsior leading the main wing of protests herself. Anyone who joins with one of her groups will find that she seems experienced in the matter - it's all about safety and no one getting picked up by the authorities. Follow her rules, keep a low profile, and you should be alright.
For anyone looking to have a lighter time in Excelsior, this futuristic city still has plenty of interesting places to explore and fun things to do! For example, the current civil unrest means that a lot of those flying cars and jetpacks endemic to the city have been left relatively unguarded. They're practically begging to be taken for a joyride, don't you think? The local VR arcades are also practically empty!
Of course, other things are currently unguarded too - such as offices. This is also a good opportunity for any heroes - or unregistered vigilantes - who want to do a little reconnaissance on their newfound enemies.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU —
Please use the form below to introduce yourself and start plotting:
no subject
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Jubilation "Jubilee" Lee
Guild Affiliation: This really depends on who does the asking. If it's someone she knows and respects? She'll listen, and still weigh her options.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Jubilee is still recovering, mentally at least, from the crucifixion and while she says she's fine, she's really not. ICly, someone call her on her bullshit. Please. Because she's going to throw herself into making things better for metas, because that's what she does: She helps. OOCly: I'm okay with a lot of things. The only thing I'd like to avoid as of yet is future explanations of what happened to her. Because if someone tells her she became a vampire, she will hurt them, and that's not a good time for anyone. Also, NO BABIES FOR JUBILEE.
Plot/CR Hooks: Jubilee, in her heart of hearts, knows she's not the thief Remy or 'Ro are. She knows, but that doesn't mean she's above pilfering, infiltrating, or just plain stealing shit, if it means that metas here have a better life than mutants back home. Or, if it means someone doesn't go hungry, or doesn't go a night without a place to sleep. That is what she was trying to do in LA
in between getting sleazed on by her managerand what she wants to continue to do. That doesn't mean she's not up for a bit of heroing, though.First things first, though: Someone get this girl a yellow trench.

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Will Solace &
Guild Affiliation: Will's going into the Alliance out of practical reasons. That being lodging and at least an ability to get medical supplies reliably.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: First, Will needs to get his bearings in this world because he just got dropped in the middle of a protest. He's definitely going to look into getting more information, but he also genuinely wants to make friends and do what he can to help as a medic / demigod healer! I'm not sure if other healers / doctors have made up a network for each other or anything like that, but, if so, he'd be interested in getting into that. Or at least suggesting or setting one up himself.
Plot/CR Hooks: He's very much a support character! Will doesn't fight at all from what we've seen of him in canon, so it's pretty clear that he takes a purely support healer role and leaves the fighting to those actually good at fighting. He's very kind-hearted, though, so it's very likely that if he sees someone hurt, he's going to immediately try to help heal them or get them out of danger so that he can treat their injuries. Even though he's not a licensed MD, he still adheres to doctor-patient privacy. Especially you crazy kids out there who don't trust adults, even adult doctors, as far as you can throw them.
Also, he's Nico di Angelo's boyfriend. I have a feeling anyone friends with Nico is going to meet him sooner or later!
no subject
Kidding. Nico stays mainly in Sunset Falls, but you know as well as I do that he’s not going to STAY there once he realizes Will is in Excelsior.
How they find each other is up to you. If you want it to hold until Will’s gotten his room at the Diadem Hotel and posted to the Network, if you want Nico to find him in Excelsior, something else entirely, whatever you like.
This is going to be so much fun.
no subject
Will also doesn't want to stay in Excelsior for very long, as cool as that name is. It ain't looking good out there right now, honestly.
All the gods know that he's going to check into the hotel and then go outside to look around.
So, probably there'll be a network post as the first thing he does!WAIT I LIED HE HAS NO IDEA HOW TO SOCIAL just demigod problems. It'll be a log post I do, for sure, so if Nico's around in the area....I'm definitely excited!
no subject
Otherwise, yes, I’ll make sure Nico goes to excelsior all like “this is not my problem but if there’s one thing demigods love it’s being all up in everyone else’s problems because they inevitably become my problem.”
no subject
I MEAN I can't even argue that, honestly...........
no subject
A quest is 3 people! Except when it’s 5! Except when it’s 7! … except then it’s still really 8 because we definitely need TWO Hades kids to pull this off! … no really it’s always everyone’s problem so you might as well be informed.

Preferred Communication: DW message system or you can find me on
Character Name & Journal: Jayce Talis,
Guild Affiliation: Jayce is thinking this over for a bit. On one side, he wants to help people. On the other hand, his terrible experiences with politics and the fact that not even the Alliance will offer certifications/papers to those who arrive unless they join the guilds, make him mistrustful of them.
He would like to open a business in the future, so he might end up affiliated with the Alliance out of convenience. Sometimes you just have to play the game.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Jayce comes from a really stressful situation back in his world, with the two sides of his city, the upperside (Pilotver) and the underside (Zaun), being on the brink of war, as well as his partner's life being cut short due to his bad health.
He would like to find a way to go back to his world and fix the mess left behind. Jayce will be interested in investigating the confluence, the magic of this world, as well as seeing if he can build a smaller version of the Hexgates (he's got some raw hextech crystals and refined gems) to open a portal to Runeterra.
Spoilers: like everything in Jayce's life, is going to fail spectacularly.
He needs a break and being in game will force him to take it. He is also a man who can't stay still and do nothing. I'd like to have him working to open his own business, a workshop of sorts where he creates support items/suits/inventions for everyone: metas regarding their affiliation or non-affiliation, as well as non-metas. As a general rule, he will refuse to make weapons. Any project involving Hextech would be first run by the mods for approval, of course.
He also has no idea how the modern world works, since he comes from steampunk fantasyland, and it's going to take him a bit to learn the ropes, so if anybody coudl help with that, or even giv ehim fashion advice, that would be really welcome.
Plot/CR Hooks: Jayce is a scientist, a doer, and can build pretty much anything. Hell, he's basically the Tony Stark of his world, there's even an in-game skin that gives him an Ironsuit.
As mentioned before, if he manages to open his own business he will be offering his services to all kinds of people, not only those affiliated with his same guild, as long as he doesn't consider them too dangerous or disagrees with them. Which is not to say that people couldn't try to steal shit from him, since that also happens in canon, and leads to wonderful drama and conflict.
He gains three powers thanks to the confluence, the first two only affect himself - Dimensional store and animal shapeshifting- but the third one is energy healing. He doesn't know yet about that power, but if your character is injured, dying, or their health needs a boost, Jayce could lend a hand eventually, maybe??? So far he's only discovered that he can shapeshift and is having a normal one in the TDM about it.
As much as Jayce dislikes violence, he hates people hurting others and causing chaos even more, and is kind of a bleeding heart. If he sees some sort of injustice happening, he will feel the need to amend it, in lieu of having noticed it in the first place.
TL;DR I look forward this idiot genius getting himself in trouble as always.

There's plenty of people with mechanics limbs in Jayce's world, but he's never seen anything like Otto's robot tentacles, so he will be curious.

I have Jayce in the TDM here, but I was thinking about making a log for him, or checking the County Fair log. Any of those could work for you? Or If you have otto anywhere I could always tag him too, I'm flexible.

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Chris Yukine
Guild Affiliation: Alliance
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Chris is mostly devoted by a desire to do good and protect people to make up for her past sins, but here she's a bit lost, as she doesn't have ready access to the home she found back in her world. OOCly, I'm down for just about anything, and ICly, I plan to have her team up and work with Gungnir/Hibiki as a hero named "Ichaival" and on the stage as a performer in her "civilian" identity.
Plot/CR Hooks: As stated before, Chris is a do-gooder, so she'd be up to doing good! I'd love to get her to team up with someone, or run afoul of any villains. She's a young adult, which means no more high school, though she will probably seek higher education. There's also her status as an up and coming idol once I get that going! Finally, I'd like to get her in a situation where she can use her new healing abilities somehow.
Note: Chris has a very dark past, and thus, certain subjects may come up with her. These will be warned for, and I will make every effort not to spring them on people unwanted. If you'd like to opt out of playing with her, I have an opt out post here.

Preferred Communication: Easiest to find me on Plurk -
Character Name & Journal: Bethan Costigan,
Guild Affiliation: Given her absolute hatred of authority and organised anything, it's going to take a literal miracle for Bethan to align herself with either guild.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: This whole system is going to strike Bethan as incredibly corrupt and authoritarian, so I'm planning to take her down a route of "destroy the guilds by any means possible". I'm absolutely up for people trying to talk her out of that, or indeed fight her out of that - obviously, on an OOC level, it's not a goal I actually expect or want her to succeed in!
On a personal IC level, she's going to be prioritising any attempts to reach through to home universes - not so much to get back to them, but just to communicate. She wants her family to know she's okay.
OOCly, I would really love any opportunity to crack Bethan's armour. She's a very hostile and mistrustful person, but without her family around, she's also going to be kind of unmoored and in desperate need of someone to rely on. (I should note that, because of the kind of character she is, any kind of close positive CR is likely to be a long-term goal rather than something that happens quickly. She's very resistant to the idea.)
Plot/CR Hooks: Bethan's power set hasn't changed from her home setting (she's essentially just inhumanly tough and quick to heal), and this world is close enough to her own that she sees no reason not to keep doing what she was doing anyway, which is a lot of unlicensed vigilantism. So if you want your character to run into a biker who keeps beating up criminals, either to stop her or help her, that's an option.
Outside of that, she's an engineer and motorcycle/car mechanic, and will probably be looking for a way to use that, both for money and just because it's important to her. Most of her parts will be legitimately obtained, but she may also go scavenging in scrapheaps and the like.
She spends a lot of time climbing on rooftops (even when she's not in vigilante mode), riding motorcycles with no protective gear, and genuinely doing stupid, dangerous things with no regard for her safety or anyone else's. So if anyone wanted to confront her on that, that's a potential in for CR, as well.
Although she doesn't know it (being from an alternative timeline, i.e. not a CRAU), characters who have CR with Angela may recognise her as the same Bethan that Angela knew in Ryslig. That's a very one-sided recognition, because she has no clue who Angela is, but it might be interesting.
Additional note: Bethan's kind of awful. She's very abrasive and very traumatised, and I really recommend you take a look at the content warnings listed on her info page before interacting with her. If you want to opt out, that's completely understandable - PM me and let me know which characters it applies to.
...also, I'm sorry for showing up a week late with Starbucks, I put in my app and forgot I was away all of last week.
