HELLO, HEROES AND VILLAINS! Welcome to

Central City —
A new confluence is the last thing anyone expected — especially not two within a single week. First in Little Love (the Test Drive Meme), and then in Central City (tomorrow's Arrival log), the oddities of these particular confluences have ground guild activity on both sides to a halt as the metahuman community comes together to solve this mystery.
Ever since the confluence in Little Love, time travellers are reporting that they’re locked in this era - neither magic nor technology appear to be working. Similar reports are pouring in from heroes and villains who hail from alternate universes. All of them appear to be bound to this particular place and time. Seers can no longer see the future spread out before them - things are now chaotic, mutable, constantly shifting and changing.
Metahumans around the world are working to solve this mystery and get the new arrivals home. All the guild members seem (falsely) confident that it won’t be long before they have a breakthrough. Characters are promised that they will be able to go home soon, but in the meantime, are being put up in Central City’s illustrious DIADEM HOTEL.
Lodgings —
The DIADEM HOTEL offers guests the finest home away from home experience you could ever hope for. Their culinary staff are capable of cooking up everything from hotdogs to gourmet cuisine. The pool, lounge, and fitness rooms are all open 24/7.
Characters will be given cell phones with three months of pre-paid unlimited data, and access to the guild networks.
Given the unexpected influx of new guests, arrivals may find their rooms have been double-booked. Hopefully it's a room with two queen-sized beds instead of a king!
Characters are also free to roam CENTRAL CITY and get their bearings, though at the moment, with the guilds distracted and the city doing major repairs following the damage by the Confluence, there is plenty of crime to stop or cause.
As the dust settles and rooms fill up, the GUILDS confer. They will determine that they do not have the manpower to handle this if it's going to be an ongoing problem - and the Diadem is going to run out of rooms. But they can use this to their mutual advantage. Player characters will be offered the chance to join the guilds. Those who join will be offered housing at one of the four major cities, with each one offering a different living experience.
Superzeroes —
The people of Central City are all too familiar with what comes with powers, and some of the locals will be immediately inclined to help, But to others, the new metas' lack of control over their powers makes them a bigger threat than whatever they were trying to stop.
That's right — expect the new metas' surprising powers can go haywire in myriad ways, including property damage and death. Powers may activate unexpectedly, backfire, or similar, even for those who have experience with other kinds of supernatural abilities, even for the well-intentioned heroes among the new arrivals.
The more villainously inclined arrivals may take advantage of the chaos, or of their own new powers, to live out their villainous dreams, making things worse for everyone in the process.
Feel free to develop and use NPCs in your threads!
Please remember to report any major damage your characters directly cause, or incidents that would be noticed by authorities (murders, arson, etc), or things you think other players would take notice of to the PLOTTING post, so we can keep track.
Sticks and Stones—
The upcoming confluence will also have the nasty side-effect of transforming words into spells! It seems to be taking colloquialisms, metaphors, and turns of phrase fairly literally. This effect will last for the rest of the week, so mind your ps and qs!
“A Penny for your thoughts?” for instance, may compel someone to speak their mind if you hand them a coin.
Saying someone is “Strong as an ox” may have them transform temporarily into an ox. “Beat around the bush” may make someone want to start beatboxing around a shrub. Whatever way you want to take it is the right way!
Who Let the Dogs Out?—
Finally, the guardian of the underworld himself is going to be making an appearance. That's right, Cerberus is going to be crashing through Central City. More details will be available at the arrival log, but rest assured three heads are not better than one. You can set up teams to take down each of his heads! We will not be threading this battle out, but we encourage you all to work together to fell the beast.

Getting to Know You
Please use the form below to introduce yourself and start plotting:
Prodigy/David Alleyne | Marvel-616
Character Name & Journal: David Alleyne |
Guild Affiliation: Unaffiliated while he can, Guardian when he has no choice
Plot/CR Hooks: David's smart, but he makes bad life choices. Smart in the way of 'make your gadgets if you need them' or in the way of 'help you figure your way into or out of a bad situation'. He's got years of practice at both, powers to back them up, and this way of hovering around the people that he comes to know and care about that puts him in danger all too often.
Of course he's also fun to call on his hypocritical bullshit. David wants the best for people, but can sometimes be cruel because it's meant to 'teach someone to be better'. This could easily be spread into points where he is hurting someone when he's trying to help and needs called on that.
Character Motivations: Not die, again. Between canon and CRAU David's at four, and he's trying to avoid the full handful or more. But he's also heavily motivated by wanting to take care of those people he deems as his. These can be people from back home, or just generally anyone he develops a deep connection to. More than anything he wants to see those people who want to get home back where and when they belong, or at least at a time and place that will work better for them. This tends to mean he's going to be looking for technological answers to these problems until he comes up against the wall and comes to accept that he's got no power here.
Ultimately he's likely to settle in Excelsior, given his own technology focus and bias, and will be looking for work and support in the tech industry there, trying to live a low key life when he's not considering how involved he wants to be with heroics. It doesn't tend to go well for him after all.
Oh, and he's trying to find a way to get characters who came in from Mask or Menace and lost things to the Fates their memories back.
Potential Roles: In canon David is often treated as the man with the plan, the brains behind all of the rest of a team, or someone who just keeps things running smoothly. This plays out both in supporting the X-Men even after he lost his powers, helping the Young Avengers come up with a plan to save the universe from Loki's actions, and with the X-Factor series he's in as part of the heavy analytical lifting for a team of detectives.
In terms of power David's great at support. He's a technopath, psychometric (among other more complicated things), and can create psionic energy constructs, so any of these could be a good reason to drag him into action that is ongoing. The constructs at least people could assume to have seen him using during the TDM conflict with the dragon, so he might be pulled into stuff with that as a point of use. He's also very good with technology and could be convinced to help with making needful gear, or even just researching things for other characters that relate to this world or things they are working on.
Finally, dude's rolling in so many absorbed knowledge sets that he's a doctor among other things. So if you need help for that (and can't get your hands on a healer or Josh Foley), he's a decent back up.

David is a gourmet level chef and can be talked into cooking for people. But there is NO WAY he's getting internet famous again, Bart. He'll do it only if he doesn't have to film his face.

(Maybe David can be another of her reasons, aside from Luther, that she eventually goes from Unaffiliated to Guardian, too, when push comes to shove. Also, like. Commiserate with her over coffee about the whole three-box options being all you can decide with your life here vs. where they came from etc.)
ALL. THE. THINGS.
pls?

But yeah, he might lure her. Because at least the perks will be worth it, even at the lower end. He doesn't trust 'unaffiliated' to not mean 'screwed and worse than second class citizen'

Also, maybe they should discuss why "people with powers might be automatically second class citizens" so the girl who was a hero from the second she was basically twelve and her powers came out can make saucer-plate horror eyes about your world. That's not even vaguely anywhere in her decisions about pro, anti, neutral at all currently.

I would love to get to have her have to share her past (even if probably not her worst, maybe she'll share how this family got bought/put together), and she can hear about his, and his family, and this school/island/nation-worth-of-people that is so vastly DIFFERENT than anything Allison invisions outside of like this world and the last. And these places give powers, so it negates that all being natural at all. The way 616 is for David.

which is always a delight, seriously i have someone in one of my games who is mostly icons they commissioned from you and it always makes me smileSadly he truly is a helpful, clever guy and will always be amusing to flirt at, even when he has more confidence. Come be yet another person David knows and has to go 'okay but i'm going to tell you how society works so don't give me weird looks when I explain stuff' to.
