OOC INTRO & PLOTTING

OOC INTRO & PLOTTING
HELLO, HEROES AND VILLAINS! Welcome to [community profile] metaheroes! We're absolutely delighted to have you here. This is both our OOC introduction and plotting for our arrival event! Please use the information below to guide your plotting as you settle in:

Central City —
A new confluence is the last thing anyone expected — especially not two within a single week. First in Little Love (the Test Drive Meme), and then in Central City (tomorrow's Arrival log), the oddities of these particular confluences have ground guild activity on both sides to a halt as the metahuman community comes together to solve this mystery.

Ever since the confluence in Little Love, time travellers are reporting that they’re locked in this era - neither magic nor technology appear to be working. Similar reports are pouring in from heroes and villains who hail from alternate universes. All of them appear to be bound to this particular place and time. Seers can no longer see the future spread out before them - things are now chaotic, mutable, constantly shifting and changing.

Metahumans around the world are working to solve this mystery and get the new arrivals home. All the guild members seem (falsely) confident that it won’t be long before they have a breakthrough. Characters are promised that they will be able to go home soon, but in the meantime, are being put up in Central City’s illustrious DIADEM HOTEL.

Lodgings —
The DIADEM HOTEL offers guests the finest home away from home experience you could ever hope for. Their culinary staff are capable of cooking up everything from hotdogs to gourmet cuisine. The pool, lounge, and fitness rooms are all open 24/7.

Characters will be given cell phones with three months of pre-paid unlimited data, and access to the guild networks.

Given the unexpected influx of new guests, arrivals may find their rooms have been double-booked. Hopefully it's a room with two queen-sized beds instead of a king!

Characters are also free to roam CENTRAL CITY and get their bearings, though at the moment, with the guilds distracted and the city doing major repairs following the damage by the Confluence, there is plenty of crime to stop or cause.

As the dust settles and rooms fill up, the GUILDS confer. They will determine that they do not have the manpower to handle this if it's going to be an ongoing problem - and the Diadem is going to run out of rooms. But they can use this to their mutual advantage. Player characters will be offered the chance to join the guilds. Those who join will be offered housing at one of the four major cities, with each one offering a different living experience.

Superzeroes —
The people of Central City are all too familiar with what comes with powers, and some of the locals will be immediately inclined to help, But to others, the new metas' lack of control over their powers makes them a bigger threat than whatever they were trying to stop.

That's right — expect the new metas' surprising powers can go haywire in myriad ways, including property damage and death. Powers may activate unexpectedly, backfire, or similar, even for those who have experience with other kinds of supernatural abilities, even for the well-intentioned heroes among the new arrivals.

The more villainously inclined arrivals may take advantage of the chaos, or of their own new powers, to live out their villainous dreams, making things worse for everyone in the process.

Feel free to develop and use NPCs in your threads!

Please remember to report any major damage your characters directly cause, or incidents that would be noticed by authorities (murders, arson, etc), or things you think other players would take notice of to the PLOTTING post, so we can keep track.

Sticks and Stones—

The upcoming confluence will also have the nasty side-effect of transforming words into spells! It seems to be taking colloquialisms, metaphors, and turns of phrase fairly literally. This effect will last for the rest of the week, so mind your ps and qs!

“A Penny for your thoughts?” for instance, may compel someone to speak their mind if you hand them a coin.

Saying someone is “Strong as an ox” may have them transform temporarily into an ox. “Beat around the bush” may make someone want to start beatboxing around a shrub. Whatever way you want to take it is the right way!

Who Let the Dogs Out?—

Finally, the guardian of the underworld himself is going to be making an appearance. That's right, Cerberus is going to be crashing through Central City. More details will be available at the arrival log, but rest assured three heads are not better than one. You can set up teams to take down each of his heads! We will not be threading this battle out, but we encourage you all to work together to fell the beast.

Character Name & Journal: Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, [personal profile] bestversion
Guild Affiliation: She's undecided at the moment.
Plot/CR Hooks:

- Kamala can adjust her size, so she'll definitely help with clearing rubble, any kind of city works. It's easy work and she understands the importance of infrastructure to help the little people, so she'll put in a fair amount of time there.

- She's going to be looking out for other 616 people she recognizes (or mcu versions of them) to figure out where they stand, what they're planning. She's still pretty independent but she has learned the need to ask for help and since she's on her own, she'll value any advice.

- She'll also be looking for people her age because friends! buddies! gen z'ers!! maybe potential revamped champions??

Character Motivations: The only thing Kamala really wants is to go home but she would never do that at the expense of other people. And people here need help. So she'll do what she can but also keep her eyes and ears open for any potential mysteries that need solving.

Potential Roles: Kamala is very wholesome. She believes in people, she believes in doing the right thing. It's not about who you are, it's about what you do. Everyone she meets will get that chance and she'll always be earnest in her dealings with anyone. She can be a great mentee, friend, cheerleader and overall sweetheart. As Ms. Marvel, she's . . . pretty much the same with powers. She can grow/shrink, elongate, shapeshift and has her own healing factor.

Jaina | Age of Apocalypse!Magneto

[personal profile] badtimeline 2022-01-15 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name & Pronouns: Jaina, she/her
Preferred Communication: [plurk.com profile] effervescible, Disco is effervescible#8341

Character Name & Journal: Erik Magnus Lehnsherr
Guild Affiliation: n/a
Plot/CR Hooks: Short introduction for those unfamiliar: this version of Magneto is quite different from the version in the main comics/movies because in his timeline (which is bad), Charles Xavier was murdered saving Erik's life, pushing him to abandon his notions of mutant supremacy in favor of pursuing his dead friend's dream. But everything changed when the Fire Nation Apocalypse attacked.

Anyway, this dude just came out of an apocalypse (where he killed Apocalypse) and is quite frankly not used to not existing in a world that isn't a complete hellscape! He's a charismatic big leader-type who's used to devoting everything to a singular goal and will feel kind of unmoored without one!

He's also a pretty good teacher and works well with people learning to control their abilities. Also a sucker for kids. Additionally, unlike standard issue Magneto, he has glorious hair. God bless the '90s.

Character Motivations: A man needs a goal. He's not going to consciously be like "OK I'm in a different dimension, time to make a to-do list!" but he'll find himself gravitating toward that. The man is intense as hell, he can't just sit back and relax even if he wants to.

Potential Roles: He's typically the wise mentor/leader type who will also throw down in a heartbeat if necessary. Very, very used to being in charge, even if he doesn't take people's loyalty for granted. Not that he'll expect to step into that kind of role here, but dealing with a change in circumstances is half the fun, right?

Also, I am totally okay with starting over on CR and not making the TDM canon if people want to start fresh. Or maybe we keep it. Who knows, tell me what you think!

Bugly's Brat, er, Bart!

[personal profile] kid_flash_found 2022-01-15 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name & Pronouns: Bugly, she/her
Preferred Communication: [plurk.com profile] Bugly42, Bugly42#3451 on Discord, or DM this journal

Character Name & Journal: Bart Allen/Kid Flash II ([personal profile] kid_flash_found)
Guild Affiliation: He'll probably sign up with the Alliance, if for no other reason than to keep an eye on things.
Plot/CR Hooks: Bart arrived with his kitten in tow, and will probably continue to use Kat-El as a poster child for pet trauma and social anxiety as well as promoting campaigns like "Don't Shop, Adopt" and TNR programs for feral animals.

His number one addiction is and will forever be video games, and he'll probably also try to recreate his streamer status as the best speedster gamer doing speed-runs you can find. Especially since it feeds back to being able to do more both for showing powers aren't always harmful and damaging and using excess income for various charitable things.

Basically, he's a good kid who always tries to help and find ways to do more to help.

I'm perfectly willing to take TDM stuff as canon as wanted.

Character Motivations: Bart cares. About everyone, their brother, and even their evil twin. And if he feels like he can do something to fix things, he will, no matter how ill-thought out the plan is. Mostly his personal goals are just making sure he has a roof over his head and enough food to fuel his crazy-fast metabolism (and take care of his cat), but after that, it's about everyone else. He's just not that important, really.
Potential Roles: Bart is the pinch hitter, the comic relief, and career sidekick. He doesn't need to be front and center, although he's more than willing to be a Flashy distraction when the need arises. He mostly plays at being an impulsive idiot, but the truth is he retains everything he reads or experiences, and can use it with just a little concentration.

He also never counts anyone out. He may not like that someone has done horrid things, but if they're willing to try to change, he'll give them plenty of chances. Even if it keeps biting him in places the comics code don't allow us to talk about.

Player Name & Pronouns: Zee, she/her
Preferred Communication: Feel free to add me at [plurk.com profile] zeeco! I'm also at zee#5555, but please pp/pm me to let me know if you are if you add me :]

Character Name & Journal: Vidana de Vadarta / [personal profile] highborn / please enjoy how i have like 8 correct icons and all the others are a different version of the character. that's a work in progress :'|
Character tl;dr: Vidana is a rich kid party-hard Mean Girl elf from high society, who has never worked a day in her life and is mostly just out for her own amusement. She will 100% flirt with anyone. (Well, anyone attractive because she's shallow — but let's be honest, that's pretty much every character here.) Having to earn money will be a rude awakening, wish her luck.
Guild Affiliation: I plan to make some NPC villain who will make a compelling recruitment speech to her right away, because it won't take much and she will have SO much fun over there. (On the other hand, if you play a villain who would give the spiel, hit me up!!)
Plot/CR Hooks:
- She's going to be the fantasy guy in a modern setting for a good long while -- someone please teach her Phones. She'll love the idea of it, but my version of elves are really big on reading and using body language, so she'll hate not being able to use that. Oh texting, you double-edged sword.
- Once she does get the hang of it she will be ALL about modern luxuries. She'll need a Treat Yoself mentor, please come show her how to spa day.
- I also want some rivals or enemies! She's a rude little dickhole when she wants to be, and I'm all about any negative CR that earns. And if she's a villain, plenty of room for a proper rivalry with a hero >:)
- I'm also interested in getting her in over her head, either with a more villainous villain who is willing to go farther than she is, or with a hero-type making her face consequences. I wouldn't be after that angle for a while, but I'd love to build up to it.
Character Motivations:
- She wants to be comfortable, pampered, freshly washed, get new nails, etc etc etc. Every creature comfort goes here, including banging as many new and interesting people as she can manage to.
- She also wants to be liked, but you'll never get that deep dark secret out of her. I'd love for her to form some genuine connections, because she has so few at home and doesn't know what to do with that :'|
Potential Roles:
- First of all, villain. She'll be signing on with them and ready to do any kind of heisty/break in job for the fun of it, so she's available for any of that. More specifically:
- Vidana is the rogue of your party. She's sneaky, dextrous, good with a sword, and can see in the dark. Throw her down any dark corridor to quietly take out guards, she's game!
- Want someone to be mean to your really nice guy? I GOT YOU. I am here to provide the mean service, here's my card, call any time.

[personal profile] obediences 2022-01-15 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name & Pronouns: Julie, she/her
Preferred Communication: [plurk.com profile] quadrille & journal pm

Character Name & Journal: Luther Hargreeves [personal profile] obediences
Guild Affiliation: He's gonna sign up for the Guardian Alliance so quick, you guys. So quick.
Plot/CR Hooks:
  • He'll be automatically intrigued by anyone with a similar superhero/team/team leader background,
  • or who has experience with averting apocalypses,
  • or who was also a child soldier,
  • or who looks visibly non-human, since he's still coming to terms with having been partially transformed via an ape serum.
  • He'll also be obsessively researching this world for a while post-arrival & taking meticulous notes, so you can probably find him in the library.

Character Motivations:
  • The basic jamjar starter pack: to learn everything he can about this new universe; to get a job; to find a place to live; and to get home (mostly for Allison's sake)
  • To eventually join a team, once he accepts that this is the new normal
  • To get friends. Luther's still very unaccustomed to this, having only really started developing friendships in the last year and a half of his life. (As a corollary to that, he'll try to catch up with anyone he recognises from Mask or Menace CRAU.)
  • To help powered kids have a better go of it than the Umbrella Academy did in their youth.

Potential Roles: He's a protective older brother & team leader type, and particularly well-versed in helping train wayward teens in the use of their powers! So if anybody's visibly struggling with some newly-acquired powers, he'll happily chip in to help them wrangle their abilities. Accidentally taking people under his wing & eventual found family would be an excellent bonus. Also he's such a boy scout and do-gooder, so like, yes, he will go help get that cat down from that tree.

[personal profile] tough_love 2022-01-15 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name & Pronouns: Saint, He/Him
Preferred Communication: Plurk is easiest, [plurk.com profile] SaintCynicism

Character Name & Journal: Princess Looma Red Wind | [personal profile] tough_love
Guild Affiliation: She'll be joining Guardian Alliance pretty quickly.
Plot/CR Hooks: Looma's somebody who has the gentle touch of an 8.0 earthquake, so uh, yeah. If she encounters any crime to put a stop to, she's not going to be handling it delicately, it's probably going to be loud, and something (or a lot of somethings) will likely be destroyed or damaged in the process. So there's that. She's also somebody who tends to only exist at emotional extremes--feeling either nothing or feeling something VERY. STRONGLY., so, there's also that. If she's mad, the entire neighborhood is gonna know. Plus, she's built like a tank and like nine feet tall, she is really hard to miss.

Character Motivations: There's really only one category of things she'd openly admit to / seek out and that's anything that lets her prove her strength and/or demonstrate she's worthy of respect. So, expect her to literally just leave a conversation if she sees anything happening that would give her the chance to do that. No matter how pleasant the conversation might be. If there's someone to punch or people to save, they take priority.

The other noteworthy thing--which she would be a little more reluctant to openly admit to, at least unless she's close to the person--is that she's secretly kind of a huge softy and an only-slightly-secret hopeless romantic.* She's not nearly as bad about it as she used to be and has effectively put finding a worthy partner on the back burner as far as her priorities go, but that doesn't mean she's given up on it entirely. So anyone kicking a little too much butt or showing off just a little too much super strength and/or invulnerability may suddenly wind up with an alien princess suddenly at their side and paying a little more attention to them than they're comfortable with.

(*Note: The meaning of both of these terms can potentially vary wildly from what humans understand them to mean. She's from a culture that demonstrates affection via play-fighting...and sometimes not-so-playful fighting. And whose courtship involves gladiatorial combat. So be very careful what you wish for.)

Potential Roles: Looma's a physical powerhouse who will gladly try to fight ALL THE THINGS (not an exaggeration), so consider her an enthusiastic Team Tank. Of the kinda-sorta-maybe-if-you-squint-a-little friendly variety.

Anything else: Given that Looma's incredibly family-oriented, she will mom the heck out of her some small children. And aggressively appoint herself a protective big sister to anyone significantly younger than her but not quite in what anyone would typically consider the "young children" age range. Just remember that, for better or worse, the lessons, advice, and supervision she'd offer may vary potentially wildly from what most people would consider acceptable. Because highly aggressive warrior society can be like that at times (e.g.: she would see absolutely nothing wrong with giving a small child a dagger and teaching them how to fight with it...which isn't great when you consider one of her powers now is that she could literally create said daggers out of thin air).

Character Name & Journal: Logan | [personal profile] howlett
Guild Affiliation: Never one to trust authority, let alone the government, he'll be too skeptical to pick a side for a while. Chaotic Neutral to the core.

Plot/CR Hooks:
Being the kind of guy who doesn't look too far beyond the present moment he'll probably be spending some time snooping around the hotel, the city, looking for people he knows and staking out any places of importance for either the Guardians or the Reform Society. He'll be looking for answers out of the mouths of someone who doesn't belong to a faction, because he isn't liable to trust information handed down from a single authority.

He's liable to go looking for ways to start slipping under the radar around here. He'd like to know what it takes to get out from the under the observation of their keepers.

He gravitates towards the gritty. He'll find his way towards Red light districts and underworlds pretty quickly because he tends to think the people there have a more honest understanding of how the world really works.

Character Motivations:
Making himself useful is hugely important to him. The man lives and breathes acts of services. Specifically the kind that take some physical toll.

In the short or long term, he's probably more than willing to be helpful. Especially with any dangerous jobs or dirty work that needs done. Always willing to mutilate himself a bit if it gets something useful done. All the better if it keeps someone else from having to do it. Or maybe you're just looking to test out your powers here. For science.

He's got an incredibly circumstantial sense of morality, and he's apt to do a lot of wrongs if he thinks it'll make a right.

He also can't resist an underdog. He'll back a total stranger in damn near anything if they're a David-type facing off against some Goliath.

Potential Roles:
Getting is attention can be tricky. He likes to mind his own business and can be obnoxiously apathetic, but generally if he's asked for help point blank he'll do what he's able. Especially if someone's in real need. If he's antagonized he won't hesitate to fight about it— win or lose, he walks away feeling like he's learned something. And he almost never says no to a beer or a bed.

So just be fighting, flirting, or fleeing really.

  • The Sacrifice - He's a meat shield. If there's a suicide mission he's the type to volunteers for it.

  • The debatably positive role mode or father/big brother figure - Is he good for this position or not? Depends who you ask. Happy to have him be a bad influence or a wholesome one.

  • The skeptic/cynic - He's a useful part of a team, but he's not known to hide it if he thinks things are going the wrong direction. Need someone to put reign in your ego? Put your plans in check? Slap some sense into you? Right or wrong, he'll make himself an obstacle if he thinks he's doing what needs to be done.

  • The Beast - Like the dog in Sandlot he's often the thing people fear before they get to know him. Love to have him put people off before they come around on him, or have him play the role of the beast with a thorn in it's paw in need of someone with a more delicate skillset to help him out of a bind.

  • The Mysterious Stranger - Sometimes he comes and goes from people's lives and lies about his name or just forgets to give it. If you're into slow burn character dynamics happy to have him pass through under some strange circumstance or pseudonym until they and cross paths again later on.

Preferred Communication: [plurk.com profile] boywonder. I do have discord and I'll do one on one chats there if you want but I'm awful at starting them orz

Character Name & Journal: Peter Parker [personal profile] tinglesense

Guild Affiliation: Guardian Alliance, he's too Responsible(tm) to pick anything else, though he's more likely to go off doing dumb solo things than actively join a team probably?

    Plot/CR Hooks:
Peter is technically an adult but no he's a dumb teenager who does dumb teenage things and gets too far over his head. He has NOT technically graduated high school, so it's possible he could get assigned to go to hero school and finish that last semester even though he wouldn't do that of his own accord.
His brand spanking new power is technomancy! He can talk to machines! He has no idea how to use this yet! No way this can possibly go super wrong and ruin everyone's day including his, right? RIGHT? :DDDD

OH yes as a note, I'm keeping all TDM threads as game canon unless someone would like to throw theirs away.

Character Motivations: Peter ended up pretty on his own recently and he's not super sure where he's going or what he's doing. Now he's here in a new world also on his own so he's kind of yolo-ing it (as am I, whoops). He tends to be drawn to people older than him because LISTEN ya boy longs for that mentor figure, it's a Problem. He can be way too quick to trust. Has he learned better after the Mysterio thing? NO because I love this character flaw of his way too much. Please let me make his life hard using this terrible too trusting thing.

Also Peter is very serious about keeping his identity a secret, which seems unlikely to last in this setting esp with people from different worlds who probably know who he is. This could be a weird mental crisis for him.

Potential Roles: Peter is a teen hero, a tech/science genius, a Gen Z-er who likes to make YouTube videos of dumb things he does (he probably loves TikTok, we're not judging him), and just earnestly does want to help people. He's NOT a grand scale hero even though he's gotten caught up in grand scale events back home. He prefers to do the neighbourhood thing. He has a hard time saying no in the end, though. He's not a team leader and he's actually not a great team player but he just does his best. Obviously he will be there to fight Cerberus. He's good at adjusting to tactics in battle, and he won't at all feel bad if someone else takes the lead; he'll take whatever role he needs to in a crisis situation because he recognises that sometimes shit just needs to GET DONE in the moment.

Character Name & Journal: Harleen Quinzel (Harley Quinn) | [personal profile] amenace
Guild Affiliation: Guardian Alliance... we'll see if that lasts
    Plot/CR Hooks:
She's just a regular 15-year old that got in over her head back home and now she's here. She's the hero of her story, even if it ended with her getting arrested and thrown in juvie awaiting trial because some rich snot-nosed brat decided he wanted to put on a mask, call himself the Joker, and blow some things up while setting her up for the fall.

She could make for a good target for those looking to corrupt the youth. Especially since she seems to enjoy quite a bit of destruction and has her own sense of justice which seems to boil down to "you mess with me and mine and I'll blow up your stuff and/or beat the snot out of you".
    Character Motivations:
A good cup of coffee, a good hotdog, a nice place up high to enjoy both.

But seriously, she's going to look to get settled in then make some friends. She's not excited about school but maybe that'll change. She is excited to try her hand at this superhero thing.
    Potential Roles:
She sees herself as the hero-type, wanting to stand up for those that can't and punch a few guys along the way. That said she is only 15 and probably better suited as a sidekick, even if she's a bit noisy and prone to not exactly listening to instructions.

She's also got villain potential, so y'know, have at it.

Notes: happy to keep TDM stuff as canon if desired. I'm also open to pretty much anything

    Plot/CR Hooks:
Like a lot of other characters who have been posted so far, Jon is service-minded and largely lacks a sense of self-preservation. If it will keep others alive or help them accomplish altruistic goals, he’ll put himself on the front lines.

Jon is a CRAU from Meadowlark, which means that you’re getting the canon character with about 90% less “explain the contemporary world to him” than you would get if he were fresh from canon. However… he played in about four major events through the course of the game, and two of them were false realities. One was a Matrixy virtual reality simulation, and the other was a dreamlike AU. The result is that he may initially wonder if this is another AU or simulation, and he’ll be on the lookout for those happening in the future.

He should be an ordinary human with strong sword skills, but he’s bringing in some CRAU powers: super strength, and starter levels of telekinesis and pyrokinesis. Brooding is a power he’s bringing in from canon.

Jon is affable, but kind of a loner, and not actually easy to get to know in any deep way: he doesn’t really talk about his feelings past obvious surface level stuff. He is very ready to explain his family’s misfortunes and his sadness and anger about them. He’s less ready to get deep and real about his childhood unless you’ve leveled up your friendship, and might not even mention that he’s a king at home unless it seems relevant.

    Character Motivations:
Jon would, of course, like to get home, where he faces a fight against a potential extinction event. He expects to lose it, but he doesn’t intend to go down easily; if there is a chance that he can pick up information or abilities that may help, he’s up for that.

Outside of canon business, he’s always interested in protecting family, friends, the weak, etc. Jon was raised as a bastard (a child born out of wedlock). It’s a stigmatized position in Westerosi society: bastard children are assumed to be dishonest and malicious, inherently embarrassing to their parents, and they can’t inherit their fathers’ names or property. Jon’s self-worth demands that he buck the stereotype whenever possible.

He is also always looking for somewhere to belong, but what has happened to him in the past is that any time he thinks he fits in somewhere, he gets promoted. He’d rather be a peer and be included than be the boss and be seen as adversarial by his former friends.

    Potential Roles:
Brave Hero Against Poor Odds: this is probably also true of most other characters here, but Jon is especially notable in canon for his selfless, heedless bravado. He may (or may not!) be a legendary, prophesied hero, but if he is, a lot of his side of GoT seems to functionally be about How Being The Chosen One Sucks, Actually.

The Best Big Bro: Jon has a lot of younger half-siblings, and is inclined to mentoring young people.

Muscle: Drag him in. Convince him it’s for the greater good.

The Diplomat: Many of the conflicts Jon is involved in in canon are conflicts where the perspective of the opposing side is understandable, even sympathetic, and in later seasons, he has about as much success as a diplomat as he does in battle. He’s a great mediator, if a plainspoken and blunt one. This can be anything from helping two sides negotiate a compromise to talking someone down, both verbally and physically, from doing something everyone involved will regret.

Guy With Cool Wolf: Yeah, Ghost is around too. He’s essentially a second combatant: usually pretty chill, but will attack to protect Jon or his friends.

Questioning Reality: I did not mean for him to be a weird bellwether for House-of-M/WandaVision-type shenanigans, but here we are. Are you sure this is actually happening?

Hebe | Rufus Shinra (Final Fantasy VII Compilation )

    [personal profile] ambitiousblond 2022-01-15 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name & Pronouns: Hebe (She/Her)
    Preferred Communication: mithryl#7232 / [plurk.com profile] illuminations

Character Name & Journal: Rufus Shinra [community profile] illuminations
    Guild Affiliation: Guardian Alliance
Plot/CR Hooks: Rufus will at least attempt a 'normal' life but he has no idea to do that and it's hard to blend in with a massive black guard hound and the tendency to cause trouble wherever he goes so might as well put it to use trying do accomplish something useful.

He's basically his own electricity generator- while he's used magic before it's always been something he can control and not something he has to live with all the time so learning to control this power will be interesting. And he's definitely going to use it to be a pain in the ass just because he can.

Character Motivations: This may not be his planet but Rufus still feels an obligation to not fuck things up as badly as he did back home and if he can do good, then he'll try to do that to the best of his ability. This is the first time that he won't have all the baggage that comes with his family history, it's pretty much just a fresh start so he can live life as he wants to which is pretty awesome.

He's also going to work on cultivating allies and people he can trust to at least a small degree to work with him on anything he needs help with. He is at least realistic in knowing that he can't do everything by himself.

Potential Roles: Rufus is the person who makes very bad decisions for sometimes the right reasons but then things somehow work out for the best. He's very good at deception, manipulation, and providing dramatic distraction when needed. He's also good at getting into places where he's not supposed to be with a sense of fearless determination.

He's pretty handy with technology and being his own power generator will come in pretty handy in a pinch.

Please note: I'm busy with work and a full class schedule as well, so I'll sometimes go days without being actively 'available' on Discord, and I have a tendency to get distracted or busy and wander away from conversations (even really good, intense ones!) and pick them up a few days later. This isn't a reflection on you at all, it's 100 percent a me-thing! If this manner of communication isn't compatible with yours, let's stick to PM! ♥ I'm open to adding CR on plurk down the line as well.

Player Name & Pronouns: Emma, she/her
Preferred Communication: DM or [plurk.com profile] violentsound
Character Name & Journal: Matthew Callahan, aka Threshold | [personal profile] onthe_threshold

Guild Affiliation: Oh, he'll probably wind up shuttled into the Society of Villainous Reformation, but he might not get there right away. The idea of him as the most hated contestant on Meta Mingle gives me the giggles, so. We'll see. He'll probably end up in Black Ops at least once at some point.

Plot/CR Hooks: Matt's a government supersolider with virtually no life experience outside of the program he was raised in. He does not know how to people. He's basically been crafted into a psychopath, and this is going to be the first time he will face consequences for things like, oh, exploding people for annoying him. His social ineptitude will most likely result in his blundering into situations he has no idea how to handle, so if you're a kind soul you can help him out. He has no idea what to do with people being nice to him besides assume it's a trick. He's emotionally constipated.

A former team leader, he does follow orders really well if he believes you're in charge, and gives orders really well if not. (He's more likely to respect female authority figures than male.)

Other government experiments will be the type he most relates to, or other telepaths. You can trick him into doing a lot of things just by making him angry or implying he sucks at something.

Character Motivations: Matthew has no idea what he wants. It's been a complete non-issue his entire life. He's also never had any friends - even his own sister hates his guts. So he'll be subconsciously looking for someone to give him a purpose, and muddling along trying to figure out how real life works.

Potential Roles: Bad guy. Oh, he can be a cackling, cape-wearing, voiced-by-Mark-Hamill bad guy. He's a killing machine with a lot of experience in covert Intelligence operations, so even though he's a colossal dick he's really useful if you put a leash on him.

He has experience training new metahumans, although he's a little more Gny. Sgt. Hartman than Charles Xavier.

Preferred Communication: [plurk.com profile] miscreates or sculpts#6553 both fine!

Character Name & Journal: Dr. Stephen Strange ([personal profile] rehandle)
Guild Affiliation: The Guardian Alliance for the sake of not getting cut off but he's not going to be pleased about it

Plot/CR Hooks: If you have magic characters, or characters who are familiar with time shenanigans or multiversal hijinks, he's most likely going to be interested in finding out more! Likewise he has a lot of experience/knowledge on all of those themes and will (probably...) be willing to help out as needed. atm I plan for him to settle in Sunset Falls and maybe fall into the role of a Spooky Issues consultant so anything supernatural is 👌

He's not going to be assuming a secret ID to begin with, so he'll be easy enough to find and get in contact with regardless of which guild anyone does or doesn't go for.

Lastly, alongside his regular power set the confluence has given him magic nullification as a secondary power, which for the time being will be kicking in unbeknownst to him whenever I need to nerf him for the good of the narrative. If you want your magic-wielding character to be caught up in one of his unintentional magic deadzone episodes that's an option!

    Character Motivations:

    - to expand his knowledge base. he'll want to know about other people and their powers, other worlds, different forms of magic, etc. tell him things, maybe one day he'll include you in a tome for the library back home
    - to be busy. If somebody comes to him for help and it's a slow day, he's probably going to help, if only to avoid running out of things to do.
    - to help solve the getting home problem.

    Potential Roles:

Master sorcerer Stephen's a powerful sorcerer with a head for strategy and innovation that underscores his magical proficiency. if you've got a magical problem that needs fixing, question that needs answering or enemy that needs thwarting, he's good to have on side. can also be fitted with the plot device/deus ex machina expansion pack.

M.D, Ph.D the man is an actual doctor, so you better believe he's not going to let you get away with saying you're fine if you're not. he's also a former neurosurgeon and neuroscientific researcher, so. nerd alert.

Diplomat... ? for better or worse, he's got plenty of experience putting on a smile and keeping threats veiled. if a situation provides an opportunity for conversation before conflict, he'll take it, and he at least won't be the absolute worst choice. he also knows how to present himself in rich people circles, having once been rich people.

This is why I never had kids is he good with kids? no. does he accidentally get attached to them and end up trying his best to help them and not be a useless influence? less no. may take a while to warm up, but a potential mentor. just do as he says and not as he does...

Old and tired part of the middle-aged, seen and done too much, died a few too many times crowd. will likely benefit from hanging out with some people his own age or who have had similarly fraught experiences so they can continue to not talk about it in questionably decent company.

Magic carpet the Cloak of Levitation will be with him more often than it's not, which means a fabric friend to vibe with! or not vibe with if it doesn't like you.
