HELLO, HEROES AND VILLAINS! Welcome to

metaheroes! We're absolutely delighted to have you here. This is both our OOC introduction and plotting for our arrival event! Please use the information below to guide your plotting as you settle in: Excelsior City —
New characters will arrive in a terrible storm that seizes Excelsior City and kills the power in Silicon Valley in the midst of old characters' tour of their potential housing locations.
During the arrival log, characters will be faced with vloggers-turned-supervillains who can alter time. This may mean characters who actually appeared on the original test drive meme are suddenly yeeted forward into the Excelsior City Confluence, allowing people to keep their TDM threads AND just now arrive into the game as they were yanked out of their original arrival.
These vloggers can be killed. The Guardian Alliance would rather apprehend them and hold them accountable for their crimes, but the Society of Villainous Reformation will put out a kill order for making them look bad.
Lodgings —
Once the Guardian Alliance arrives on the scene in Excelsior and controls the situation, characters will be provided with lodgings in the DIADEM HOTEL. Here, guests are offered the finest home away from home experience you could ever hope for. Their culinary staff are capable of cooking up everything from hotdogs to gourmet cuisine. The pool, lounge, and fitness rooms are all open 24/7. Given the unexpected influx of new guests, arrivals may find their rooms have been double-booked. Hopefully it's a room with two queen-sized beds instead of a king!
Characters are also free to roam CENTRAL CITY and get their bearings, though at the moment, with the guilds distracted and the city doing major repairs following the damage by the Confluence, there is plenty of crime to stop or cause. Characters will be given cell phones with three months of pre-paid unlimited data and access to the guild networks, as well as credit cards to help them start a life here.
As the dust settles and rooms fill up, the GUILDS confer. The Guilds are aware that they do not have the manpower to handle this ongoing problem of Confluence arrivals - and the Diadem is going to run out of rooms. To this end, player characters will be offered the chance to join the guilds. Those who join will be offered housing at one of the four major cities, with each one offering a different living experience. Note: characters who have been in the game for two months will reach their deadline to decide! Two months of living off the Guilds' dime is coming to a close for some of the oldest characters, and decisions should be made in March.
Superzeroes —
The people of Excelsior City are all too familiar with what comes with powers, and some of the locals will be immediately inclined to help, But to others, the new metas' lack of control over their powers makes them a bigger threat than whatever they were trying to stop.
That's right — expect the new metas' surprising powers can go haywire in myriad ways, including property damage and death. Powers may activate unexpectedly, backfire, or similar, even for those who have experience with other kinds of supernatural abilities, even for the well-intentioned heroes among the new arrivals.
The more villainously inclined arrivals may take advantage of the chaos, or of their own new powers, to live out their villainous dreams, making things worse for everyone in the process.
Feel free to develop and use NPCs in your threads!
Please remember to report any major damage your characters directly cause, or incidents that would be noticed by authorities (murders, arson, etc), or things you think other players would take notice of to the newly redesigned PLOTTING post, so we can keep track.
Disney's Haunted Mansion —
The upcoming March event will offer a chance for some reality-shifting horror in a cursed house, so you can start thinking about if you'd like your character to be a victim of the house or a heroic rescuer.

Guild Affiliation: unknown!! she's too much of a hot mess right now to steer one way or another.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: wanda is coming fresh from the end of wandavision, so she's not in the most positive place mentally, but she's a work in progress. the events of wandavision had her accidentally traumatize a small town with her magic after surrounding it with a hex that allowed for her to create a hexed sitcom-inspired world within. from her magic, she'd been able to bring to life the love of her life, vision, and two children, tommy and billy. however, when realizing that her magically-created world was actually causing pain for the citizens trapped within, she had to sacrifice the family she created and banished herself away from the public to hide away in a quiet cabin by herself where she would begin training herself and reading more on the truth of her powers which make her the chaos magic-using scarlet witch.
which brings her to the present of the game where wanda's intentions are still much of the same in that she wants to better understand herself and her abilities, as well as try to learn the kind of person she could be. she's attempted to be a hero with the avengers for years, but ultimately made too many mistakes which crafted herself into being seen more as a villain by the public. so is she hero or villain — ? that's the question she's posing herself as she explores the kind of person she can be in this world.
whether she takes a more positive or negative route going forward entirely depends on the development of cr and how the world here might respond to her abilities, so a lot of things remain up in the air.
but maybe she can make some actual friends ... c':
Plot/CR Hooks: wanda's the type who's going to want to keep her head low as much as possible on account of ... everything she's just freshly gone through. but despite her intentions to keep to herself, she does have a tendency to want to help if she has the ability to (even if she's constantly in a state of believing herself ready to fuck something up at any moment), so she might end up on the hero front here and there if anyone's in any trouble.
she's also really trying to learn more about her own magic, so she might be more inclined to study powers and abilities with others, particularly if there's enough similarities. she may also focus on building a home for herself to just be a little isolated witch, with lots of gardening to pass the time.

Balthier and Wanda may actually have fun CR. He's a dramatic flashy sky pirate who was recently grappling with returning to the aristocracy/government to try to make a better world with his love interest-queen, but since getting here is like MAYBE A DOMESTIC LIFE WITH MY BF WOULD BE GREAT? He's traded in airships and gun fights for an antique store. He's Villain aligned but...mostly helps out, he just doesn't like being told how. He also like, just murdered his father to stop the end of the world and isn't over that.
He could use Friends, and especially friends who are messy but Nice like he is. He is also adjusting to new powers.

Peter only has experiencing accidentally fucking up magic and obviously can't do magic himself, but you know, details. ANYWAYS he's in a heavy emotional place himself and probably doesn't even KNOW anything about what happened with Wanda (????) but either way I'd love to have them get some CR even if it's just being awkward at each other.

Sooooo question... How likely would Wanda be to want to learn about what her sons are like in another dimension? Because, like, not only does David have some serious history with Comics Wanda, but he's sorta friends with one of her sons and dating the other back home. So he knows a lot about the lives they live. And he'd be willing to tell her if he knew she needed some comfort for all of that.

i would be absolutely fine with having her hear about it! honestly, she's still mourning about them that hearing they have full lives they're living out in another dimension would really mean a lot to her, so hearing it from david would be incredibly comforting.
