OOC INTRO & PLOTTING
HELLO, HEROES AND VILLAINS! Welcome to metaheroes! We're absolutely delighted to have you here. This is both our OOC introduction and plotting for our arrival event! Please use the information below to guide your plotting as you settle in.

SUNSET FALLS —

New characters will arrive by crashing up through the floorboards of Sunset Falls' gymnasium.

During the arrival log, characters will be faced with ghosts of long dead heroes and villains who have been reawakened by their arrival. These ghosts do not appear to respond to reason and seem to view te player characters as some sort of threat, have full control of their abilities and must be fought until their energy has been exhausted.

A fire elemental will also be manifesting in the city, setting it ablaze with every step it takes. Player characters will need to work together to contain this blaze and defeat the source of the inferno.

LODGINGS —

Once the Guardian Alliance arrives on the scene in Excelsior and controls the situation, characters will be provided with lodgings in the DIADEM HOTEL. Here, guests are offered the finest home away from home experience you could ever hope for. Their culinary staff are capable of cooking up everything from hotdogs to gourmet cuisine. The pool, lounge, and fitness rooms are all open 24/7. Given the continued influx of new guests, arrivals may find their rooms have been double-booked. Hopefully it's a room with two queen-sized beds instead of a king!

Characters are also free to roam CENTRAL CITY and get their bearings, though at the moment, with the guilds distracted and the city doing major repairs following the damage by the Confluence, there is plenty of crime to stop or cause. Characters will be given cell phones with three months of pre-paid unlimited data and assistance with setting up social media accounts on the guild networks, as well as credit cards to help them start a life here.

Player characters will be offered the chance to join the guilds. Those who join will be offered housing at one of the four major cities, with each one offering a different living experience. Characters have two months to decide if they want to throw in with one of the guilds and enjoy the perks of membership, or deal with making their own way in the world without their support.

PACTS MADE —

Finally, another entity has followed the new arrivals to Central City. A disembodied demon will be taking up residence in the city and will be attempting to coax characters into making a pact with it. Anyone who takes the demon up on this offer will have a wish granted, in exchange for a fragment of their soul. While there is no immediate consequence to this - selling part of your soul to a demon surely can't go without consequence. This plot is here for player plots and conflict rather than holding overarching narrative significance.

Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Doreen is here to make friends and do superhero things! She won't be too freaked out by being stuck in another world; she has a pretty weird life and is good at rolling with the punches, so she'll be helping out where she can. Once it sinks in that she'll be stuck here for a while, she might start looking for some university courses to enroll in (she's a computer science major in her second year)

Plot/CR Hooks: Doreen is an optimistic ray of sunshine who genuinely loves being a superhero! She fights crime with squirrels, punches, and excellent listening skills and empathy. Doreen has been doing the superhero thing for a couple of years and is pretty confident in herself, so she'd make a good sympathetic listener to any younger heroes who are having trouble adjusting (she also gives great hugs!). She's also really good at talking down villains and figuring out where they're coming from - Doreen is the type of superhero who tries to talk things out and help everyone before resorting to violence, and she firmly believes that everyone can change for the better. She's also big into computer science and terrible puns, so if those are any of your characters' interests, they'll get along just fine! She'll probably be spending a lot of time at local parks, chatting up the squirrel population, and foiling small-time crimes like bank robberies.

Doreen also has a paper-thin secret identity that she'll be trying to keep up (she doesn't wear a mask as Squirrel Girl, and her 'civilian disguise' is literally just wearing regular clothes and stuffing her tail down the back of her pants) so feel free to recognize her in or out of costume!

... oh man, idk what canonpoint Billy's coming from, but I just realized that since Doreen rolled with the New Avengers AIM team for a while, the last time she saw Billy, he was fighting Space Cthulu and horked up an evil squid

I don't think they've ever really hung out or spoken to each other much, but that could be one hell of a conversation starter!

i forgot to respond to this, but he's coming from after the dormammu thing in GotG!! so it's after Wiccan's Kookie Quartet and he's gonna hug her really hard.

Doreen! I'm so glad to see her. What a lovely character to bring in. Very excited. I would love to have David meet her. I'm not as familiar with her comics runs, but from what I was able to piece together from the info in your app, it would seem like she's from before David would have had a passing meeting with her, so guess he'd have to look forward to meeting her again in game at some point.

Daviiid! I'm only familiar with him from the old New Mutants run (which didn't end well for ANYBODY), but I'm pretty sure they've never met! Doreen hasn't tangled with the X-men crew very much (although she thought she was a mutant when she was a kid), and is only passingly familiar with the Young Avengers gang. They should absolutely meet up and hang out!

... ngl, I just skimmed through your app for David's powers, and if he ever uses them on Doreen, he could totally learn how to speak Squirrelese, she's taught other people the language!

No, it really didn't end well for a lot of people, and David definitely still carries old traumas of it. They are both at Billy and Teddy's wedding in the Emprye event back in 2020 I believe. So from his point in time they would have met in only the most brief fashion. But he'd be happy to meet her. I mean, she's done a lot of cool stuff in the heroics world.

Oh man, it didn't even occur to me that he could temporarily learn to speak Squirrelese. That's a language he never would have fathomed getting for even a moment.

Ohhh, that would do it! The dangers of playing from comic canons, sometimes your characters pop up in other storylines and you miss it.

Come learn Squirrelese! Let the squirrels tell you all of their thoughts on peanut butter, they have so many opinions! (No, seriously, they're all over the city and squirrels are surprisingly good at intel!)

She barely even popped up from what I saw. Was just drawn into the Aftermath Avengers because Billy and Teddy were of course going to have ALL their teammates ever at the official wedding.

Sadly he can't retain his knowledge, but he'd be happy to talk to squirrels when he can, out of amusement.

Also, ngl, if she meets him as Spider-Man first, she will be like "I... thought you were taller...", because she hasn't realized that this world is absolutely crawling with spidered men!
