SUNSET FALLS —
New characters will arrive by crashing up through the floorboards of Sunset Falls' gymnasium.
During the arrival log, characters will be faced with ghosts of long dead heroes and villains who have been reawakened by their arrival. These ghosts do not appear to respond to reason and seem to view te player characters as some sort of threat, have full control of their abilities and must be fought until their energy has been exhausted.
A fire elemental will also be manifesting in the city, setting it ablaze with every step it takes. Player characters will need to work together to contain this blaze and defeat the source of the inferno.

LODGINGS —
Once the Guardian Alliance arrives on the scene in Excelsior and controls the situation, characters will be provided with lodgings in the DIADEM HOTEL. Here, guests are offered the finest home away from home experience you could ever hope for. Their culinary staff are capable of cooking up everything from hotdogs to gourmet cuisine. The pool, lounge, and fitness rooms are all open 24/7. Given the continued influx of new guests, arrivals may find their rooms have been double-booked. Hopefully it's a room with two queen-sized beds instead of a king!
Characters are also free to roam CENTRAL CITY and get their bearings, though at the moment, with the guilds distracted and the city doing major repairs following the damage by the Confluence, there is plenty of crime to stop or cause. Characters will be given cell phones with three months of pre-paid unlimited data and assistance with setting up social media accounts on the guild networks, as well as credit cards to help them start a life here.
Player characters will be offered the chance to join the guilds. Those who join will be offered housing at one of the four major cities, with each one offering a different living experience. Characters have two months to decide if they want to throw in with one of the guilds and enjoy the perks of membership, or deal with making their own way in the world without their support.

PACTS MADE —
Finally, another entity has followed the new arrivals to Central City. A disembodied demon will be taking up residence in the city and will be attempting to coax characters into making a pact with it. Anyone who takes the demon up on this offer will have a wish granted, in exchange for a fragment of their soul. While there is no immediate consequence to this - selling part of your soul to a demon surely can't go without consequence. This plot is here for player plots and conflict rather than holding overarching narrative significance.

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: billy kaplan (this journal!)
Guild Affiliation: he MIGHT join the guardians, but then again he might go unaffiliated.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: he'd really like to go home, so any magic types that wanna get together to try to figure this shit out.. pls hit him up.
Plot/CR Hooks: billy's a reality-warper of pretty scary potential, but mostly you wouldn't have any idea about it. he sometimes fucks up spells still, so i'm happy to use that as a plot point if ya want. he knows middle-brother loki and will probably wanna get to know the other two lokis, so anyone involved with any of the three.. c'mere. otherwise idk i'm just vibing.

Jaime Reyes (Blue Beetle) | DC Comics
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle,
Guild Affiliation: Guardian Alliance
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Really what he wants is to get home because he already spent stupid amounts of time away from his family because of superhero stuff. He also wants to be helpful! So while he's here, he'll be getting into doing typical hero stuff. Saving people from natural disasters, punching supervillains, and saving the world as best he can. He's just barely getting ready to graduate high school (eighteen!) and was studying for the SATs when this happened so he'll want to get to work on that again in the mean time. You know, if they have SATs on alternate Earths? OOC I'd love to get him into some crime fighting stuff, maybe some plots to take over or destroy the world that need thwarting? The usual thing for Blue Beetle!
Plot/CR Hooks: Blue Beetle is a hero that tends to serve as a supporting character in stories that aren't his own. Jaime is initially recruited by Batman in Infinite Crisis and shows up periodically, especially in the Teen Titans books as a supporting character and eventually a member of the team. He's very earnest, very centered in his moral compass, and wants to do his best to help--he's a boy scout. He's also very stubborn and independent minded and doesn't like being kept in the dark, so he's perfect as a foil for more secretive characters or for people who like to be in charge.

Laurie is a CRAU and was very close to a Jaime Reyes (they were both in-game for a long time and basically grew up together), so that can be a thing if it's cool with you!
She will be sad he's not her Jaime, but she can dote on him once she gets over the initial shock. Bittersweet stuff!

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Angela (née Aldrif Odinsdottir)
Guild Affiliation: she's not joining shit without some kind of better understanding of the give and take involved. her life motto is "Nothing is for nothing, everything has its price," and she takes that very seriously.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: short term goals are to get acclimated and figure out 1) why there are three versions of her brother all of a sudden, and 2) how the fuck she is supposed to look out for three fucking Lokis. long term goals include gaining enough power and support to eventually return to the last
gameworld she was in and overthrow the evil goddess there who kidnaps people and transforms them into cannibal monsters! I'd like her to establish herself as more of a traditional Superhero™ here, as she never really got the chance to do/be that in canon.Plot/CR Hooks:

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Peter Parker (
Guild Affiliation: probably the Guild Alliance, but he'll probably strike out on his own for a bit first to get a better feel for what's what around here
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: This is 1610 Peter, so he... is pretty definitely sure that he can't go home. He'd be down to help other people find a way home, but otherwise he kind of just wants to keep doing some good around here and make a new life for himself.
Plot/CR Hooks: Welp, this friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will generally throw himself in the path of protecting innocent lives and keeping baddies in check! He usually does this on a relatively smaller scale (no
AvengersUltimates-level threats for him, that's above his non-existent pay grade), but every now and then something small turns out to be connected to something big and before ya know it oops he's just found out that he has to go toe-to-toe with the city's biggest crime boss. But he's also a huge nerd and kind of a technological genius in his own right, so show him something shiny to play with and Peter could come running!no subject

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Clara Oswald (
Guild Affiliation: She won't be siding up with any of the guilds at first, and will be intensely focused on getting in touch with the Doctor so he can come pick her up in his rad time machine but eventually she'll likely be siding with the guardian alliance.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Clara's main goals at first will be lots of exploration and meeting as many people as possible. She'll also be focused on doing whatever it takes to get back to the Doctor, so she may be looking into ways to tear holes in the fabric of this reality who knows. Once she starts to settle, she'll likely get a job teaching since that's her thing.
Plot/CR Hooks: Clara is very social and exceptionally charming (and often flirty), and finds it easy to meet people and hold conversations. She can easily butt into other people's situations, or drag others into her own. She plays the supportive/caretaker role very well, her focus usually being on taking care of others. If there are teens/kids around, she's likely to try and keep an eye on them to ensure they stay safe and out of trouble. Her other favorite type of person to watch after (aka: boss around) are ridiculous older men that should know better than the stupid trouble they get into, yet never can seem to get their act together.

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Loki Odinson /
Guild Affiliation: N/A
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: HE WANTS TO GO HOME well not really because he's absolutely fucking tired of getting killed every time he manages an iota of character growth, but he's stressed out of his mind for Thor and wants to believe Thor doesn't really think he's the Worst Brother Ever (please love him) and also all the dumb Thanos stuff.
But, he will also look into establishing himself. Maybe see if he can manage a life outside of all the drama he's always been caught in (and perpetuating). Even start his own theatre.
Plot/CR Hooks: Loki will probably look into the magic of his place, broaden his knowledge, maybe cause some . . . chaos among the guilds because their premise kind of Sucks . . . He doesn't really know what a Friend is, help him out.

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Ripley Arkwright |
Guild Affiliation: N/A
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: All he wants is a nice apartment with three cats and zero interaction with stressful events and people. Maybe get a job as a minion again? It worked fine before . . . He's not chomping at the bit to get home but also . . . so many superheroes ☠
Plot/CR Hooks: Ripley is very much the kind of person who lands up in the wrong place and the wrong time. But also his power is great for locating lost things or people, so if anyone needs to find someone, Ripley's your guy. He'll also start to suss out who are the power players, who keeps to the background, just so he knows what to avoid and how to engage in the city.

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Doreen Green
Guild Affiliation: independent at first, and she'll prrrrobably join the guardians?
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Doreen is here to make friends and do superhero things! She won't be too freaked out by being stuck in another world; she has a pretty weird life and is good at rolling with the punches, so she'll be helping out where she can. Once it sinks in that she'll be stuck here for a while, she might start looking for some university courses to enroll in (she's a computer science major in her second year)
Plot/CR Hooks: Doreen is an optimistic ray of sunshine who genuinely loves being a superhero! She fights crime with squirrels, punches, and excellent listening skills and empathy. Doreen has been doing the superhero thing for a couple of years and is pretty confident in herself, so she'd make a good sympathetic listener to any younger heroes who are having trouble adjusting (she also gives great hugs!). She's also really good at talking down villains and figuring out where they're coming from - Doreen is the type of superhero who tries to talk things out and help everyone before resorting to violence, and she firmly believes that everyone can change for the better. She's also big into computer science and terrible puns, so if those are any of your characters' interests, they'll get along just fine! She'll probably be spending a lot of time at local parks, chatting up the squirrel population, and foiling small-time crimes like bank robberies.
Doreen also has a paper-thin secret identity that she'll be trying to keep up (she doesn't wear a mask as Squirrel Girl, and her 'civilian disguise' is literally just wearing regular clothes and stuffing her tail down the back of her pants) so feel free to recognize her in or out of costume!

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: clint barton with this journal
Guild Affiliation: he'd probably end up with the guardians, if he joins up with anything.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: of course, he'd like to get back home eventually since he's got a lot going on there but he's also going to want to (begrudgingly) make sure the younger population is taken care of and isn't about to end up getting themselves killed.
he'll be coming off a major loss and maybe a little desperate to see if there's any magic in the world that can bring someone back from the dead.
Plot/CR Hooks: clint's a tired old man, really. he's a regular human who uses a piece of wood and string to take out baddies. but he's been doing it for a long time and he's still alive so he must be doing something right. he's an avenger though he'd say he's retired at this point in time and he just wants to sit on his porch and rest.
of course, that's not going to happen. he's a pretty good mentor when he wants to be though he's kind of grumpy. also, he's partially deaf so that'll be a thing that'll be noticeable too.

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: malyen oretsev (
Guild Affiliation: none yet
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: mal's first priority is to return home and figure out what's happened. once he's figured out he can't, it'll be figuring out what it means to have powers but also how does one live a life that's not being a soldier in an army? he'd want to make friends, try all of the food available to him.
Plot/CR Hooks: someone please teach mal about the wonders of the modern world, how does one use a cellphone and what the fuck is a car? can he go fast in it? how fast can he go? figuring out what he can do here and fitting in will be something that takes him time but he'll embrace it once he's less thrown off. then friends to spar with? food buddies? bros? friends to walk him stupidly charge toward danger and think about consequences of it later?
additionally, mal's a tracker and, as far as he's aware, a totally normal human in his world. he's going to need help adjusting to having powers (and coming to terms with his own opinion of those with magical abilities that he carries from his world.)

Darth Nox (Sith Inquisitor / Assassin, Sith Marauder secondary) | Star Wars: The Old Republic
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Darth Nox |
Guild Affiliation: Unaffiliated
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: He's a grumpy nerd who's like two decades overdue for a goddamn vacation, so he's going to prefer to just not do a damn thing. This won't work of course, and he'll end up helping out on the superhero end of things every so often (and especially during any major crisis or during the Confluences), though he'd balk at the idea of joining either guild. When not doing that, he's probably going to pass the time trying to learn as much as he can about this world and the nature of the Confluences. If there's a pattern to who gets pulled in, the powers they get, etc.
There's also a good chance he'll end up accidentally starting a cult out in Sunset Falls. But don't let that fool you, he'll (surprisingly) actually use it mostly for good. He'd encourage things like community service, charity fundraising, etc., rather than anything overtly evil. But he'd also use the members as an information network of sorts--not actually as spies or anything, but just some extra eyes and ears on the lookout for anything that might be worth knowing about.
Plot/CR Hooks: He sticks his nose into just about everything. Everything. So even if someone's not necessarily hanging around Sunset Falls all day, the odds of him literally just appearing next to a character to learn more about them are higher than you'd expect. And I do mean that literally: He can cloak himself through the Force, making both himself and his mind virtually undetectable (highly sophisticated sensors meant to see through such things can still detect him if he gets too close), and as a result of that and his own issues he has a horrible habit of just appearing without warning after observing while undetected.
Other than that, anyone studying magic, the supernatural, or anything just plain weird or unusual is probably going to get a visit from him sooner or later. His skills may not always be directly applicable, but he has a sharp mind and a hunger for knowledge, so he'll pick things up fairly quickly.
Plus, who else here eats ghosts? He's a walking lightning rod for the dead, and his presence alone is typically enough to cause ghosts to begin acting...strangely. Sometimes violently, sometimes with a greater degree of lucidity than they would have otherwise that allows them to interact with people as if they were still alive (despite, y'know, still being ghosts). It's always hard for him to predict just what a ghost's reaction to his presence will be, but his working hypothesis is that their mental and emotional state tends to revert to what it was around the time of their death (for better or worse). So if you've got a ghost problem, he's your go-to person to solve it since he can just bind them to himself and leave, no muss no fuss.

Peter is a boy scout type so ideologically they're at odds but I think having this kid make some far far away reference at Nox could be fun, because I am very silly. Peter doesn't have supernatural abilities, just spider ones, and a Confluence-granted technopathy ability.

Preferred Communication: DM me at
Character Name & Journal: Norman Byrd,
Guild Affiliation: Undecided
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: Norman will initially be laying low. As the former face of the cult he was raised in, he wants to leave his past behind really badly and is more comfortable in the background rather than drawing attention to himself again. By doing so he believes he can get a better understanding of his surroundings and learn important information. As he is not interested in heroics or villainy, leaving will be his primary goal, however realistic that is. It will be a primary motivation for his early months and will likely persist as his time progresses.
He's had zero close friends since he left the cult he grew up in, and I'm a sucker for developing CR, so that would be my favorite thing to explore: actually opening up to people and stop hiding his past so deep in the closet.
While Norman puts his own self-interests first, he is a homicide detective and may be persuaded to take up similar positions of work to earn money / better acquaint himself with his surroundings.
Plot/CR Hooks: When he was in the cult, a surgery was performed to carve symbols on the inside of his soul to give him weird abilities. In-game, they will be limited to wearing the skin of Eldritch-y monsters and temporarily gaining their powers and weaknesses. (Will be finishing the list of monsters soon!) If your character is magically inclined, this ability might be of interest. If your character is up to no good, he might be interested in keeping tabs just in case the trouble stops him getting to go home, somehow.
