OOC INTRO & PLOTTING
HELLO, HEROES AND VILLAINS! Welcome to metaheroes! We're absolutely delighted to have you here. This is both our OOC introduction and plotting for our arrival event! Please use the information below to guide your plotting as you settle in.

LITTLE LOVE, KANSAS —

This month appears to be a little different. Though all the signs of a confluence appear there is no sign of any new arrivals. The gathering waits with baited breath and then finds nothing of interest occurs. Lightning strikes a potato field and that appears to be that.

People in town begin to go missing the next day. Both the new arrivals and the missing people have been planted deep under the field by the confluence's newest creation: giant, sapient potatoes of surprising strength. These potatoes seem to function as a hive-mind. Some arrivals may have been planted too deeply and may have spent the last night in an underground cave system, unable to break through the cave due to the potato's roots. Characters can fall into this cave system during combat. The water down here is glowing and, if drank, will cause you to become temporarily bio-luminescent and empathic to plants. Down there they will be able to locate the source of these monsters.

You will need to fight or tame these potato monsters in order to get the town back to normal.

LODGINGS —

Once the Guardian Alliance arrives on the scene in Excelsior and controls the situation, characters will be provided with lodgings in the DIADEM HOTEL. Here, guests are offered the finest home away from home experience you could ever hope for. Their culinary staff are capable of cooking up everything from hotdogs to gourmet cuisine. The pool, lounge, and fitness rooms are all open 24/7. Given the continued influx of new guests, arrivals may find their rooms have been double-booked. Hopefully it's a room with two queen-sized beds instead of a king!

Characters are also free to roam CENTRAL CITY and get their bearings, though at the moment, with the guilds distracted and the city doing major repairs following the damage by the Confluence, there is plenty of crime to stop or cause. Characters will be given cell phones with three months of pre-paid unlimited data and assistance with setting up social media accounts on the guild networks, as well as credit cards to help them start a life here.

Player characters will be offered the chance to join the guilds. Those who join will be offered housing at one of the four major cities, with each one offering a different living experience. Characters have two months to decide if they want to throw in with one of the guilds and enjoy the perks of membership, or deal with making their own way in the world without their support.

BUD THE SPUD —

Finally, in the aftermath of all of this, Little Love will require some ongoing assistance with pruning its new monsterous plant population. The older of these beasts seem amenable to being taken in and given a home. The younger ones keep trying to kidnap and plant people. The town seems surprisingly okay with this new breed of potato and some comment that it's the tenderest potato they've ever eaten.

Character Name & Journal: Aloy (tosavethisworld)
Guild Affiliation: she could really go either way! I'm leaning towards her becoming unaligned, but if the Alliance can sell a competitive aspect to her like the Hunting Lodge in Meridian did via the Hunting Trials then she might consider their offer.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals: well, Aloy currently is fresh off the events of her first game, so at the moment she's still trying to come to grips with everything that's happened to her and everything she's learned. ICly she will be wanting to learn as much as she can about the world around her in the hopes that maybe she can use it to fix the world she's from, but OOCly I want her to make more friends and learn she can't always do everything on her own—her upbringing as an outcast means she's very self-sufficient, but to a point where she's not super great with friendships and indeed doesn't entirely know what to do with people who actually like hanging out with her.
Plot/CR Hooks: Aloy is an open-world adventure game heroine. this means she will stick her nose into any business if it interests her enough, and if she spots something interesting she'll likely at least try to get closer to get a good look at it, even if it means a hell of a lot of climbing. other explorer-types are appreciated! also, people who are willing to teach her about the modern day—while she is from far in the future, it's a post-apocalyptic future, so she hasn't got the best grip on how things work in 2021. she's something of a tech whiz despite all that, so engineers and other tech-minded people are highly appreciated, she'd love to learn from them! (the only other person who knew tech in her world was Sylens, and uh. they have a more antagonistic relationship than anything, so.)

also people she can get into friendly competitions with. she is a sucker for friendly competitions.

Where’s she going to be living? He’ll start in Little Love being potted in a potato field, obviously, but he’ll be at the hotel for two months. They could meet at the intro event OR mutual curiosity b&e in Central City.

she will also be at the hotel! I think however once she gets her bearings she'd have a permanent address over in Excelsior, which doesn't mean it'll be where she actually lives—I can't really picture her settling in anywhere at her canon point, beyond having a place to send stuff to
which means they're free to meet either during the intro or while breaking and entering somewhere in Central City for like, nebulous crime-fighting/"someone asked me to get a thing back for them" reasons

HELLO kate and aloy would have such perfect cr. they can be intense perfectionist archer buddies.

also, funnily enough, kate is tech saavy in the sense that she's a modern person who grew up with smartphones and stuff, but also terrible at it in the sense that she doesn't know much more than the basics, so that might be fun to play with.

oh it would be!! I like the idea of Aloy being very good at figuring out how things work but just very inexperienced in actually using them—the Focus is highly advanced and she uses it all the time, but that’s about the only working tech she’s exposed to regularly before the main events of the game, so Kate and her smartphone and other shiny new modern-day tech will interest her greatly

hello friend! mal can't teach aloy about modern day, since he's still figuring it out, but i feel like these two would get along on the experience with hunting/trapping and survival front and competitive streaks.

he's trying to get his bearings so having someone who's curious in his circle would be helpful. i can see these two being friends, they have similar personalities!
