LITTLE LOVE, KANSAS —
This month appears to be a little different. Though all the signs of a confluence appear there is no sign of any new arrivals. The gathering waits with baited breath and then finds nothing of interest occurs. Lightning strikes a potato field and that appears to be that.
People in town begin to go missing the next day. Both the new arrivals and the missing people have been planted deep under the field by the confluence's newest creation: giant, sapient potatoes of surprising strength. These potatoes seem to function as a hive-mind. Some arrivals may have been planted too deeply and may have spent the last night in an underground cave system, unable to break through the cave due to the potato's roots. Characters can fall into this cave system during combat. The water down here is glowing and, if drank, will cause you to become temporarily bio-luminescent and empathic to plants. Down there they will be able to locate the source of these monsters.
You will need to fight or tame these potato monsters in order to get the town back to normal.

LODGINGS —
Once the Guardian Alliance arrives on the scene in Excelsior and controls the situation, characters will be provided with lodgings in the DIADEM HOTEL. Here, guests are offered the finest home away from home experience you could ever hope for. Their culinary staff are capable of cooking up everything from hotdogs to gourmet cuisine. The pool, lounge, and fitness rooms are all open 24/7. Given the continued influx of new guests, arrivals may find their rooms have been double-booked. Hopefully it's a room with two queen-sized beds instead of a king!
Characters are also free to roam CENTRAL CITY and get their bearings, though at the moment, with the guilds distracted and the city doing major repairs following the damage by the Confluence, there is plenty of crime to stop or cause. Characters will be given cell phones with three months of pre-paid unlimited data and assistance with setting up social media accounts on the guild networks, as well as credit cards to help them start a life here.
Player characters will be offered the chance to join the guilds. Those who join will be offered housing at one of the four major cities, with each one offering a different living experience. Characters have two months to decide if they want to throw in with one of the guilds and enjoy the perks of membership, or deal with making their own way in the world without their support.

BUD THE SPUD —
Finally, in the aftermath of all of this, Little Love will require some ongoing assistance with pruning its new monsterous plant population. The older of these beasts seem amenable to being taken in and given a home. The younger ones keep trying to kidnap and plant people. The town seems surprisingly okay with this new breed of potato and some comment that it's the tenderest potato they've ever eaten.
GETTING TO KNOW YOU —
Please use the form below to introduce yourself and start plotting:

Preferred Communication:
Please let me know before you add me on plurk. I get weird friend requests and tend to ignore if I'm not expecting one.
Character Name & Journal: Duke Thomas (Batman: Wayne Family Adventures) |
Guild Affiliation: He could potentially be swayed to join the Alliance if he gets enough of a Justice League vibe, but he's also really not into the whole Government Runs Things deal. So it's a toss up.
Character Motivations & IC/OOC Goals:
Duke is motivated by helping others and stepping in where he thinks the government fails to protect the most marginalized and at risk. In game, his goals will be finding where he fits in, possibly having to revise his idea as the Daytime Hero, and figuring out what is going on with the mess that is all of these people who are-but-aren't his family. OOC, I am very much interested in putting Duke through the ringer for the sake of drawing out the more stubborn and even defiant sides of him that are lessened in his canon because he's more concerned with being accepted by his new family and doesn't want to rock the boat too much.
Plot/CR Hooks:
-- Duke is a Bat (the only natural metahuman of the bunch) who works in the daytime, so of course he's a weirdo.
-- He's potentially going to school, but that might involve too much government involvement for him.
-- As far as him helping in other plots, he can be earnest and really does want to help and be part of something bigger than himself. He is good support and will back someone up or can be dragged into crazy plots/plans even if he didn't intend it to happen.
-- Would love to take advantage of Duke's abilities and his lack of control in them to keep working on that to have some fun.
-- One of his abilities is temporary power amplification that activates randomly and maybe this could lead to a potential player plot I will be putting more thought into.
-- Duke is often the "normal, sane" one in a group until people realize just how he's crazy in a different way and that could be fun to play around with if put with characters that come across crazier at first look.
-- PHOTOKINETIC POWERS. They could definitely come in handy being stuck in the dark caves? His powers include absorbing darkness to make the surrounding area lighter/bright and emitting energy himself like a flashlight.

I mean he knew that already but still.

Besides, he doesn't even exist in Jason's world and he wasn't a formal Robin! No reason to hate on Duke right.
Right?

Although Duke is going to think Jason dyes his hair.

... Also, this sounds like vigilante bingo should somehow happen in-game.
