[sticky entry] Sticky: DISCUSSION & FEEDBACK

This post is an open forum for players to discuss the game. This may take two forms:

(1) OOC Game Environment:
The positive, the negative, and the neutral. Please feel free to talk about what you are enjoying, what you think needs improvement, etc. We ask that you try to keep discussions constructive.

(2) Plotting for IC Events:
Have an idea that you want to get going but need help developing it? Come here! Share what you've got and piggyback off one another.

Any threads that break the golden rule of respecting each other will be frozen. The idea is that this is a safe space to discuss the game and any issues that may be happening as well as solutions to those problems as openly and transparently as possible.

This is also a space for players to request help or offer assistance where other players may be struggling. The mods will also step in and try to offer assistance, guidance, or changes where we can.

You can offer private feedback directly to the mod team here and we encourage players to reach out to us directly where they feel our help or input is needed.

SHIFTING GEARS

Hello Heroes! I think it's time for a debrief.

As you have no doubt noticed, deadlines were missed this month and responses have been slower and slower. I deeply apologize for this. I intended to have this discussion at the start of the month but ended by being waylaid by other circumstances. Mostly, all very good ones.

When Meta was first envisioned it was done so at a dead end job where I had nothing but free time, and now I have a much better job (two even!) and no time at all, and amazing opportunities turning up. I am so happy and fulfilled - but I have not ime. Which I suppose is the crux of the issue at hand: right now, there is no feasible way for me to keep on top of mod work. You all are wonderful, and I love the game and everything you have built, but I do not have the time to mod a game. I haven't had time to play for a long time now. Every time I think I'm about to get a break, something new comes up and it's an opportunity I can't say no to or something that pulls me away from the internet entirely. I've looked at my schedule and know full well that both May and June I will be completely MIA as I will be at a different city every weekend, and the lead-up to that is going to be absolutely packed with deadlines.

With this said, I wanted to discuss shifting gears and working the game into something more sand-boxy and giving players significantly more power to run things. Think... the dressing rooms of the olden days, where there is an established setting, a code of conduct, but everything is in your hands. I had always intended for the Metaplot to eventually drop away and become far more player-plot-focused and I suppose this is the time to do it.

This is what I propose:

  • The game will remain invite only but apps will be done away with. You'll just need to fill out a character claim + list some powers.

  • Activity Check / Check-Ins will either be paused or moved to a bi-monthly check-in.

  • State of the Games will also move to a bi-monthly mode and will contain the prompts for events. These can be player submitted. There will not be mod written logs so players will need to take these ideas and run with them.

  • I strongly encourage players to create NPC journals for their own NPCs and run wild with plots.

  • You can most likely consider everything short of killing the NPCs and destroying the cities entirely as fair game. Again, I am here to facilitate plot as best I can though responses will most likely be scattered during May and June. If you want to reach me for immediate responses, private plurks to [personal profile] minimoffs is probably the fastest way. I don't mind at all helping out where I can, I'm just often away from my computer these days.

  • The more lax environment also could potentially allow for other changes, such as fan-made AUs, but again I wanted to put this to everyone to discuss before making any changes to the currently standing rules. There's been talk on plurk on and off through the years and I figured it was worth mentioning.

I welcome discussion in the comments about what you would like to see / what structure needs to be provided for this to work for all of you.

Finally, I wanted to thank everyone who has ever played here. Meta was created during a very, very different time in my life and it gave me a creative outlet when I had absolutely none. Doing mod work is what kept me sane through what was one of the most painful and uncertain times in my life. You have all been absolutely wonderful, the very best players a mod could ask for. This extends to players, comods, and everyone who had to read the 58 page game bible in the leadup to this happening.

So from the very bottom of my heart, thank you.

    EVENT LOG DELAY.

    Hello, heroes!

Due to circumstances outside of our control, our responses to log plotting comments were delayed - and as such, the ability for players to interact with the plot before the big event finale goes live was also put on hold. Due to this, we are delaying the event log by one week to give us extra time to respond to plot-relevant player questions and NPC threads, as well as have a little extra time to include what players have put on the event plotting meme into the event log itself.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Mages Wanted

Greetings! I figure this is the easiest place to fish for interest.

Donnie here's been data-gathering like he do, especially with how crazy everything's going lately. The possibility to track down Chaos Gate exists and at least three teenagers are interested in doing so. But while he can pick up specific clues, going any farther with them isn't particularly in Donnie's wheelhouse.

So! Wondering if anyone else's characters might be interested in seeking out Chaos Gate! Magically-inclined will be a plus, particularly if they can pick up someone's unique signature across distances.

    Let's! Go! Get some answers!
